Morning all, a very first post from me on this, although i must admit its kept me going at times during the close season transfer windows haha. moved up here 20 years ago, season ticket holder and go home and away with my son, so yes seen some pretty poor times!

I feel i need to post this and get it off my chest as I'm getting agitated with some of the social media negativity, i understand everyone has an opinion but i just can't get my head around some of the negativity and personal saying its worse than Clement, if we remember, how bad it was last year under clement, the football was horrendous to watch, boring and slow, even under Barry it wasn't great, i get we haven't got off to a great start but surely we can see something, under clement i couldn't see anything, no patterns of play or nothing, we have to give him time, i expect some poor showings but i am adamant it will come good and we will be back where we belong.

I though the same under
Beale
GVB
PC
RM, I did, but not sure now,

Weve seen it all before which is why you are seeing the negative feedback. Poor results agians SPL opposition Pedros team should beat let alone 100 million pound squad. What gives you this confidence, he has a worse track record than the 2 before him, only differnce is we have bettr palyers imo.

Go on give us a burst of prince charming. On a more serious note apart from one game we have been very poor. I can see both sides of the debate. Give him more time and it'll come good or give him more time and we'll be so far behind another league will be gone. It's a bit of a toss of a coin which one will be the outcome.

I think the vast majority of the frustration I've seen posted on here is pretty balanced and on the whole completely justified.

Those calling for Martin to be sacked are certainly in the minority

The majority of frustration seems to resolve around;

- Results.
- Speed of play.
- System, in particular the use of our fullbacks and 8's.
- Substitutes.
- Number of basic mistakes.
- Use of Dowell
- Regression in key players
- Perceived lack of commitment on the pitch

All perfectly valid frustrations and when combined it is quite alarming.

Hopefully time is the answer.

EHL always look forward to your posts, good insight. You have made a lot of correct bullet points but surely RM must have studied the Scottish game and been aware of the speed and physical elements required to succeed, the fact we haven't shown really anything in the 2 SPL games so far is worrying.

15 Aug 2025 12:11:06
I would say that most don't want him sacked. Most want him to figure this out and get the boat pointed in the right direction. Most of us are frustrated and concerned that its not coming together fast enough. This teams performances barring the one game at home against Pilzen, have been not just bad but shocking. The teams performance under Beale was better and I despised that guy. Endless talking and no results.

6 games in, people want to see some signs of consistency and effectiveness in the build up and defending. We especially need the shot totals to be going up for and shot totals against dropping. We are seeing the opposite so yeah people are panicked.

15 Aug 2025 12:14:43
The criticism of Martin is understandable.
We look disjointed with his style of play.
Huge improvements needed.

15 Aug 2025 12:25:11
You forgot EHl
1. Aversion to square sausage.
2. Aversion to leaving your hair alone.
3. Use of the word " beasting" continually.
4. The falsification of Kieron dowell being Rangers class.
5. Aversion to any meat products at all.

15 Aug 2025 12:26:55
I agree EHL2020, i think it is very balanced on here, i was more referring to other social media, maybe i am the one who should be more negative haha.

15 Aug 2025 12:50:50
Clement took us from 8 points behind to have a real run at the title and who knows what he would have done with the financial backing and the support that Martin has received this summer. The football wasn't worse because at least there was structure to it, whether we liked it or not .
I suspect the next manager of Rangers will have a lot more than 8 points to make up later this season.

15 Aug 2025 13:03:32
You forgot aversion to brown brogues Shota ?.

15 Aug 2025 13:05:26
It's far from balanced, I think the posts on here in the whole regarding the state of play literally weeks into a new managers time at the club is quite embarrassing

Want to reiterate, culture change needs time, and I believe this new board believe in Russell Martin, and have backed him with the assembly of the best squad we have had in years

Let's wait til the end of the window, where we have the squad that will take us forward, then judge the poor bugger when he has all the tools he needs at his disposal

@EHL i'm of the opinion u are passively aggressive towards Russell Martin in all that u have said, subtle digs just like your reply above

Wading in but not wading in.

Blue North, I'll hold my hands up and admit I bought into Beale in the early months. His interviews gave me hope and that along with his coaching background and great reputation gave me faith and belief.

However after a succession of poor results and still hearing the same rhetoric from him, I gradually became aware that I had been conned. I'm starting to feel the same way about RM - his unwavering belief in his football principles and the fact that I can't remember any performances with Beale that were as bad as the Motherwell and Dundee games, gives me real negative vibes.

15 Aug 2025 13:22:40
Shota forget his football, anyone with a problem with square sausage can't be trusted. Unforgivable.

15 Aug 2025 14:04:48
I don't think ( would hope ) that nobody wants Martin sacked this early.
We all have concerns but we need a manager to be successful, or we are back to square one.
The problem is that this early in his tenure there is more concerns than shoots of recovery.
EHL sums it up perfectly.

15 Aug 2025 14:28:00
SydneyGer, I hope there's nothing passive about my dislike for Martin.

I expect the head coach of our club to operate with a set of values that I don't believe Martin represents.

I think I've made that clear.

15 Aug 2025 14:41:00
EHL has a down on RM. If you don't like him it's unlikely to change. Did he pinch your veggie Burger or more likely change things at work. let's have some positivity EHL. I'm disappointed with your recent posts and believe me I was an avid follower of your posts.

15 Aug 2025 14:58:22
Colonel, I wasn't aware that I was a cheerleader.

I foolishly thought this was a forum for us all to share our opinions.

Clement, Kopen, Jefte, Cortes, Danilo, Baron, Nsio, McAusland - there are plenty to list where I've gone against the grain and been positive about.

Forum kinda loses it's purpose of it's sanitised to only positive opinions - don't you think?

15 Aug 2025 15:38:55
EHL I see what you're saying and I see what Colonel is saying. I actually have enjoyed our differing views recently as you've made some points I found good points and I hope you have found the same.

My only question would be is your obvious dislike of Martin clouding some of your judgement? That's not saying your opinion is wrong just a perspective I wondered about.

I think the list of issues you put up are very valid points. But I also think 90% of them have been issues for at least the last 4-5 years and the last 4-5 coaches including our interim Fergie who should of all previous managers know the most about our standards and values as a club.

The reason I point this out is it wasn't a tool used to bash in all of these previous coaches it was always their style of play or lack of. Now we have the opposite in a philosophy head coach and all the same issues present after 7-8 weeks of training and 5 competitive games in 14 days making less time available on the training pitch is his fault and his style of play.

I will also point out in fairness this divide you mentioned in the squad you pointed out was there before Martin. So you aren't completely going after him for everything which is fairer than many a poster on here.

15 Aug 2025 15:39:49
EHL - yes, technically a minority based on the poll conducted on these very pages

"Should we sack Russell Martin immediately?

Yes (49%, 108 votes)

No (51%, 113 votes)

Total Votes: 221."

I voted no FWIW. Because sacking yet another manager after only a few games and after an exhaustive search is insanity.

What he does need to do is root out the trouble makers in the dressing room that have plagued the club (and several managers) for years, and show a degree of flexibility in how he plays the game.

15 Aug 2025 15:54:21
Ayrshire, you are probably right, I am probably over critical of Martin due to my own bias against him.

But I'm also capable of being objective.

Martin is dealing with many inherited issues, however the big difference for me is that he's the first coach in a while to join post season and have an opportunity to work with the squad over preseason and he's been given the best squad I've seen at the club in a long time - so I expected better in terms of the on field performance.

I am sincere when I say I hope he adapts and becomes a success though.

15 Aug 2025 16:34:19
Very fair response mate. I hope for all our sakes he turns it around and I don't know why but I believe it will.

Think it's just blind optimism and hope more than anything but I have seen small moments in matches where I have liked our passing and movement but as RM has said himself the moments where we are good and are poor are too far apart in the differences and I'd say much more negatives than positives as it stands.

Going on track record though every ex-player only has good things to say about him and at his previous clubs he did start slow and then progressed, none more so than the 25 game unbeaten run at Southampton.

We will just have to wait and see.

15 Aug 2025 17:33:20
I think it's clear u are now a disgruntled ex employee, EHL?

Change isn't for everyone, when change gets too hard, some peolple just need to get off the bus.
