Surprised at some of the negativity on here today.
We just beat Panathinaikos 3-1 on aggregate in a very tricky Champs League qualifier. We got it done in pre-season with a new manager, new system, and new faces.
It wasn't pretty at times but we will improve. No doubt about that. Our recruitment isn't done yet and we've not hit our stride. I think there's a lot to be positive about after last night.

Is there negativity? I'm sure everyone is delighted that we are through. This will only bring confidence to the team. 3 - 1 is a fantastic result. Well done Rangers.

Marco I can't understand it either. 5 weeks into a new system and we won the most difficult draw we could get. the team showed the resilience the manager was looking for. the style of play will improve with time. our defence won't be under constant pressure once our midfield and forwards get used to receiving the ball in tight situations. there is a lot of positives.

I can see where you're coming from and absolutely agree it is early days in the process, however I have to say some of our defensive frailties are frightening at times. If it hadn't been for Jack Butland, who was immense once again, and very poor finishing, we would have lost the tie. I totally get Russell Martin talking up the defence as he must do, but he must be aware of the issues last night, especially with Tav (too casual and slow) and big John. I like Souttar, but thought he had a bit of a nightmare. Big Djiga looks a good signing and Max Aarons was much better at RB when Jefte came on. Great to get through and on a positive note improvement will come and more business will be done before the window closes. It's very difficult to have a complete overhaul and be able to compete after such a short time, but he has to find a way to win every game. It's not Southampton, it's Rangers and anything less will not be tolerated.

Spot on Seeker with you comment about Tav and Soutter, I would prefer to see Aarons at RB, and would also try the two new guys at CB, the big lad, don't ask me to spell his name and Fernandes. We need to forget about the phrase, this is Rangers, every team including Liverpool and PSG need time to settle, good vibes at this time.

People are only giving opinion on what they're watching, and if they think it will work. Football would be pretty boring if all we spoke of was the final score.

Everyone is delighted that we got through but you can't deny that it was a very poor performance. We looked like we had no idea what we were trying to do. Aarons is not a left back, Dowell is never going to be good enough and Souttar was a liability. Young Curtis should never have started either. We were very uncomfortable with and without the ball. Its one thing saying that we will improve given time however how many times have we heard that before? Honestly, I can't see this style of football working. We just don't have the players.

Tav didn't really do anything wrong so what message does that send. If Aarons can't play LB then play Jefte there and let Aarons fight for the RB place.
I was a RB who had to play LB for a number of years to help the team out. I was better at RB but it only took me a few games to work out how to play LB and I did it pretty successfully even when we got a proper LB I kept my place. so why can't a professional footballer work this out when a numpty like me can.

Souttar was a liability, I'm clearly watching different games from some, yes Souttar maybe gave away lose balls but was our best defender both games, some need to realise this it's happening overnight and fans need patience, some ate expecting fantastic football after a couple of games.
