This is just speculation. I was very surprised to see that pre season training camp was to be at St George's Park the England National Teams training ground. Nice facilities however are they that much better than Auchenhowie? Really go all the way to Staffordshire because?

Unless and here comes my thoughts Could it be because out of work Manager Gareth Southgate is in the frame and would feel comfortable at this venue.
As I say just a thought if journos can write speculative columns why not us fans too.

Agree0 Disagree0

The facilities in St George's Park are light year ahead of what we currently have.

Part of the reason for the trip is to use elements of the facility that we'll be looking to install at the training centre - elements that our new head coach is familiar with and sees as crucial for the development of the squad.

I'd imagine it's so all players are away from distractions and together for a week. It's a great facility and I've heard Valencia are doing there pre season there when we leave. No issues with it.

28 May 2025 15:47:23
Its pre season mate. Most teams go abroad for pre season we usually do. Clearly this season chosen england.

28 May 2025 16:01:04
Our new head coach is familiar is my speculation exactly.
Who are saying is head coach?

28 May 2025 16:01:47
Correct EHL, as I said the San Francisco 49rs have a great relationship with UCLA and UCSF do will be looking to install the most up to date facilities sports science and medicine can provide.

28 May 2025 16:10:33
EHL are we any closer to appointing that manager?

28 May 2025 16:11:35
Interesting points EHL, do you mean the new head coach is familiar with St George's itself or a similar setup to what's there?

28 May 2025 16:11:45
Auchenhowie not even close to St George. Have u been there scotty?

28 May 2025 16:14:14
That our new head coach is familiar with EHL? Really?

28 May 2025 16:22:10
Let's hope Ehl isn't hinting that it's Southgate!

God forbid man, I cannot stand that guy.

28 May 2025 16:39:14
Stevie I'm not taking anything like that mate, he only means our new coach is used to that, makes me think it's Ancelotti ever more.

28 May 2025 16:48:59
Why would anyone think our training ground would be anywhere like St George's park ???.

28 May 2025 17:44:30
Said before a good few weeks ago
Southgate would be interesting granted nobody thinks he would be good

But I'd accept it if it was him and back him I actually like Southgate now
Did not like him years ago came across as hating the Scottish in his playing days.

28 May 2025 17:50:39
Another interesting candidate who again I think I spoke about in here a while back is
Lee Carsley.

28 May 2025 17:53:53
However many Managers who have gone through advanced FA coaching licenses like UEFA Pro License.
these are often held at St George's, so Many new coaches would be familiar with the facilities.
Examples Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, and others progressing in their coaching careers.

28 May 2025 18:04:09
You've dropped one in there EHL to ramp up the speculation. Familiar? (apart from the fact that tons of clubs have used the facilities but. )

28 May 2025 18:16:29
Ehl hasn't hinted at anyone on here yet. So why, after starting a new job within the club would he now decide to hint at someone. I'm going to guess he means someone who is used to working within a similar set up.
