Stevie Clifford of fourladshadadream stated last night that there's no doubt contract talks with both alfredo morelos and ryan kent have stalled and he reckons it's more than likely now that both will either leave in january or at the end of the season ?This is very poor management by ross wilson and our board of directors as it should never have got to the stage of these players being allowed to go into the final years of their contracts ? It happened with goldson and we got lucky or the way he's playing now unlucky. Of course we also allowed it to happen with joe aribo that's 4 players and that's inept in my book ?.

On Morelos it was fair to take gamble as he never cost much and helped us to 55 . on Kent I really think we could have got rid of him anytime and would have not impacted the league as his domestic performances haven't been great. I'm not a Wilson fan with the injury prone players and guys with little. Game time he keeps looking at but to be fair to him the money paid out in fees is about equal to what we've brought in over the years so business not a total disaster are there a few instances he could have done better yes but he doesn't have the position we have of hindsight. For all we know players might have been making really positive noises about staying then simply changed Thier minds.

I think it's maybe time to move on from Wilson anyhoo you never want any of these guys having too much power over the signings for the team and I'm affraid he has.

Still think a fully backed gio would have signed one or two players he knew in Holland.

You can't make them sign a new contract I agree but you can find out information earlier and take pressure of the manager and onto yourself as the head of recruitment or the board in freeing up funds if possible. Another route I wouldn't like going down but could is replacing them in team and let them sit on bench for most of the year as I've always said I would only want players that are fully committed. This is why I never like the idea of loan players unless loan with buy option. On players that resigned I was never keen on goldson, Davis is a club great but past it now, arfield deserved his deal to sheer graft and work rate always a good thing to have my first impression of Tillman was lazy without ball but good player when in possession. blundstrum has proven his worth if off form a little. Colak bargain for domestic but? If he can replace what Alf gave us in Europe (no easy task) Tav only gripe is the not facing the media after a loss. Tjrfc really ayou obviously know very little of goalkeepers McGregor is still very much a great keeper I ask who do we replace him with in the squad tell me a better back up option than McGregor simple truth is we should have signed a keeper or seen if mccrorie could step up to plate the guys our out and out No1 last year and all of a sudden you all turn on him for a couple of league errors gk is a high risk position and even the top keepers make one or two errors a year. For me if morelos is to leave for free I wouldn't be that disappointed. We got him for circa 1 mil and he has more than earned that money back for us. Personally think we should have accepted the 16m bid from Lille. If we do sell in January I think we could still get maybe 5mil. Kent would be a disappointment to lose for free as he cost us 7. But we can't grumble about it. We have been very successful within the end of contract market. We make potentially 23million on Bassey who we got for across-the-board development fee and potential 10 mil for Aribo. We have brought in Lundstrum who has become a key player for us. We may miss out with Kent and Morelos but same was said about Goldson. If they go I would be fine with it as its part of the modern game and would free up huge wages for us to bring in decent replacement for free. Will be a load of quality on last year of contract. I'm sure, might be wrong, but is the CM from Belgium not in last year of contract and desperate to join us?

John 26, with reference to the number of players signed by Wilson, Tav was signed prior to Allen being appointed DoF. Allen signed Goldson, Kamara and Davis were all signed by Allen who also signed McGregor, Arfield, Barasic, Kent and Aribo among others. Morelos was signed before Wilson arrived.
The two Scouts that have left Rangers were both Allen appointments.
As you know I do not rate Wilson. Generally he appears to be excellent at identifying young up and coming players, (generally under 20), but I feel he has failed when bringing in experienced players.
I understand that Allen, who of course brought Gerrard to Rangers worked very close with him to secure players that the manager wanted. That close working relationship was not sustained when Allen left and Wilson joined.
Of course a number of Allen's signings failed although, interestingly, a number of players subsequently allowed to leave the Club have been relatively successful after leaving us.
All of the above said, I do not blame Wilson for us not selling Morelos or Kent and equally for them not having signed a new contract.
Perhaps Wilson's hands are tied by Parks and his Board, (I am not a fan of the Parks Family, I do not believe that the son should be on the Board and I feel that Parks Senr., is too preoccupied with his Car Business and under his custodianship there has been a cloak of secrecy at what goes on) .
We have failed miserably to replace McGregor, Arfield, Davis, Aribo and Defoe, to name but five, with equal or better players and personally I don't believe that we have strengthened the Team under Wilson's watch.

John 26, I do not wish to get in to a heated debate with you since I have too much respect for you to do this. Perhaps I should rephrase that aspect of my response to say that it was Allen and his Scouting Team that first identified these players and brought them to Rangers and similarly, for those signed prior to Allen it was the then manager and his team that identified and brought these players to the Club.
Wilson then gave them all a new contract and in that respect it could be argued that all of McGregor, Goldson, Davis and Arfield should not have been given their new contracts but rather our DoF should have identified younger, better players to come in to replace those players that were reaching the end of their careers. Similarly, the same should have been done with Defoe, Aribo and Bassey.
None of these players have been replaced with similar or better quality.
As a result of our failure to do this we will be in a significantly problematic position this summer when one year on McGregor, Davis and Arfield will again be at the end of their contracts and we will potentially have the added problem of replacing Morelos and Kent if they do not sign a new contract.
That will be an additional five players just to stand still and we have the added problem of having to either pay the transfer fees for both Tillman and Sands or let them both go.
I appreciate that we have some young players that might be ready however our situation, in particular aright and left wing and striker are a major issue. We haven't replaced Defoe, Roofe is seldom fit and was known to have injury problems when signed with Colak being an improvement on Itten. We still don't have a quality right winger despite the monies spent and now there is serious concern about centre back despite having spent £4m on Davies and why we signed Yilmaz at £5m is a strange decision when he appears at best to be one for the future.

From what I did hear the Kent new contract was all but agreed verbally so why it hasn’t been signed is open to opinion.
