So yeah this is when I get hounded off the page.
My source that told me about the bombshell signing. well he's told me today after last night's outcome the purse strings are now being tightened and the player is now very unlikely to come.
I am happy to share the name now as he's been mentioned elsewhere since Chermiti's injury.
Gutted it's not going to happen because at the age of just 30 I reckon he'd have tore it up for us (if we got another ten players with him).
Anthony Martial
14 Aug 2026 22:13:44
At 30, 1 quality season at us, could get him back into the sights of bigger teams.
14 Aug 2026 22:18:44
Is this potentially someone we could look at again now that Driouech has fallen through? I seem to remember him playing mostly off the left in the past?
14 Aug 2026 22:23:48
Would absolutely take Martial and Chris Smalling on one year deals.
14 Aug 2026 22:24:21
Good God. Bomb scare more like. He has only managed about 50apps in last 4 years. 1 goal for Monterrey. You having a laugh? Sounds perfect for us, but that ain't no bombshell signing.
14 Aug 2026 22:27:54
Tbf, he is currently without a club. Left Monterrey by mutual consent.
14 Aug 2026 22:28:53
Where's the laugh emoji when you need it.
14 Aug 2026 22:34:26
What an anticlimax. Since leaving Man United he's gone from bad to worse, no, thank you please!
14 Aug 2026 22:45:46
That wouldn't have rocked Scottish football another player that likes the treatment table. Who even is he playing with these days.
14 Aug 2026 22:59:27
5watp, Actually very good on his day for United, shame he was always injured.
14 Aug 2026 23:06:47
At least u had the guts to name him afterwards, Lundstram. No idea what he's been like for last few years tho. We've just taken a hit of £8-10m dropping out Europa, so no wonder deals are off.
14 Aug 2026 23:49:14
If that's the best the recruitment department can come up with as a signing that will rock Scottish football, we are in more trouble than you can imagine.
As to losing 7 to 8 m for missing out on Europa, if we qualify for conference, there is not a great difference, in fact, we may make more as we might actually win a few games & collect bonus for that.
If we had money to spend on Martial & Moroccan lad, there are better players available with better options, but would you trust those in Charto to sort it out, because at present they appear to be doing things like a bunch of amateurs.
14 Aug 2026 23:49:24
Cheers, Lundstrum
Martial fit and firing would be scary in the SPL. Well, the Anthony Martial I remember at least. Don't know what standard he is now, and the questions would be asked on fitness, value and if he still had the legs.
But Martial was a top, top player. And I reckon there would be fanfare and excitement if he rocked up to Ibrox, even now.
15 Aug 2026 00:09:50
Interesting, playing Devils Dick Advocaat, when this rumour was first posted, we had 4 strikers and DM had said he was happy with the strikers. We've only actively gone into the market since Chermiti got injured.
15 Aug 2026 00:47:46
Sure, Martial isn't what he used to be, but he'd certainly do a job for us, can also play wide. So, if Martial isn't good enough to some, then who do you actually want to sign? Is anyone good enough?
15 Aug 2026 00:56:15
Lundstrum, thank u very much mate for sharing that even though it didn't happen.
Shows honesty about u, mate.
For me, Martial I don't like.
Never liked him mate.
One I did like was Depay, but he's running amok in Brazil with club's finances. He's got the stadium to himself 2 days a week for anything he wants to do.
Concerts, shows, whatever. That's his contract.
It's actually pretty disgusting what he's got in his contract, man.
Helicopter brings him to stadium n stuff, white strip n black trims, I'm sure, but can't say what team.
Lundstrum, mate, you're one of the top posters bro, thanks for sharing as much as u could at the time.
15 Aug 2026 05:58:01
Why not ask Gazza to come back. Martial who's hardly kicked a ball and has been playing for those footballing giants Monterrey 🤣 would rock Scottish football. Get a grip!
15 Aug 2026 06:41:55
Thanks for sharing Lundstram, appreciate your views and input, however I'll be glad if this one doesn't happen. Also, wouldn't rock Scottish football in my opinion.
15 Aug 2026 06:48:15
I've never been so happy for the club to be skint if that's the case, diabolical recruitment.
Martial is and has been done for a long time.
15 Aug 2026 06:56:57
Definitely wouldn't have wanted us to sign Martial, but I think Chris Smalling would be a good experienced signing for us at this moment in time, on a one year deal. 🤔
15 Aug 2026 07:56:31
I agree, re the Europa v Conference money. Not a huge difference in what is earned.
If there's any money left to spend, it should be on one or 2 creative players. Snap up defenders on loans or frees. We need to create chances.
Hearts played good stuff last season under Del, so I can't understand why we can't.
If our players could play 1 touch passes, it would help speed everything up. We're so slow at moving the ball.
15 Aug 2026 08:27:09
We don't need a marquee signing - we need players who run for 90 mins, can pass a ball 5 yards to their own teammate, and who are willing to fight for each other till the bitter end, and are willing to take a man on and have a dig at goal once in a blue moon - traits that used to be the norm for a Rangers player but have seemingly got lost in the mists of time? 🤔
15 Aug 2026 08:27:12
Lundstrum, you're a top poster. Try ignore the noise unfit. Struggling with that. I no longer do player incoming info.
So mb wrong of me to say you ignore the noise.
I spoke re Fraser, only one to get stick, hey others comfy y info.
From the Tuesday, I was asking Sid and others about the Moroccan lad as I was being told we would not sign at 7 million, this was confirmed by their director, yet others said I was talking garbage.
15 Aug 2026 08:57:01
Massive difference in prize money from Europa and Conference League. Go look at the draw and win bonus structure, also the prize for qualification is significantly lower! And we only play 6 games, 3 home, 3 away! So lose a game at Ibrox!
15 Aug 2026 09:22:59
Aye, John, ignore the noise, mate. Some believe u, some don't. Vast majority appreciate your posts, names or not. Personally think the money for him was a big factor after dropping out of Europa, regardless of injury. If it was all about him not being able to play immediately, why still try and change terms to a loan? That wouldn't make him play any sooner.
Fair play to Lundstram too for naming him and taking a wee bit of stick. All good natured and a bit of debate too.
15 Aug 2026 09:38:59
Lundstrum, sorry to hear you felt that way.
15 Aug 2026 09:55:11
I want everyone on this site to remember this post, we are going nowhere until we drop this Fernandez and get a centre half that is going to know what's going on around him and runs about, no use us having 70-80% of the ball and ending up 1-1 could have been 1-2, against United, 1-2 against Hibs who are up the park twice, and the goal against the poles less said the better, never mind wingers get 2 centre half's
15 Aug 2026 11:08:11
Depay doesn't have a contract, he's a free agent, and it was 2 stadium uses a year or over the 2 years of his deal to probably try and promote his own music. Not two stadium uses a week to do whatever he wants. 🤣
15 Aug 2026 11:23:23
Lund, u keep posting, mate, most enjoy your post. Ignore the melts who come on and criticise everything, players, managers, recruitment, and some come on with what they call fact, like the post above on Lewis Ferguson 🤦.
I also seen a post recently about the Moroccan lad stating fact that he was a left footed RW, some people just type negative rubbish on the regular. Onwards and upwards.
15 Aug 2026 12:27:05
I'm not sure this would've rocked Scottish Football or shook it. Made it laugh probably. We by all accounts had no interest in a striker until Chermiti got injured and if he's a free and was looked at why pay or negotiate a huge fee for the boy in Portland? Not convinced your source was accurate here mate but you've put your head above the water line.
Keep posting mate. It's only a rumour if you believe it enough to post it, no harm done.
15 Aug 2026 13:12:20
Just for accuracy's sake, we haven't dropped out of Europe (yet), and although we will earn less in the Conference, it's possible we could earn some of that back by having a decent run in the competition. Getting out of the league stage and through a couple of knockout rounds would give us some extra gate money.
I just wonder if people would look down on the competition if we won it, not saying we will, just hypothetically if we did. The West Ham and Crystal Palace fans regard it as a major trophy win, why shouldn't we.
15 Aug 2026 16:52:50
Kudos, Lundstram, that's what the page is all about mate, ignore the instant scorn and negativity you get from some quarters because you are just passing on what you heard.
Some of our best players in living memory weren't exactly ripping it up before they came, it should be noted, both Gascoigne and Laudrup were both surplus to requirements, and I think a player of Martial's standing certainly qualifies as a big name even if he's had better days, his stock probably hasn't fallen as far as ours lol.
