Its been reported the casper widell club has said there player is leaving the club they have not yet mentioned who he is going to but could this be the CB that we are signing since we missed iut on Diawarra. I know we have been linked with Casper before.

28 Jul 2026 08:24:13
Think we're going for the guy from the MLS.

28 Jul 2026 09:29:06
He's been on our target list for months now.
And I keep hearing he's coming. To us this window.

2.5 million or around that figure.

He's tall and can play out from the back.

28 Jul 2026 09:35:21
The lad from Philadelphia Union is the CB coming in.

Deal agreed for 3m.

28 Jul 2026 09:37:47
Boy from the MLS stinks of desperation, if I'm being honest! If DM hadn't opened his mouth about signings being close, and having this many in before this game, we wouldn't be this desperate to bring someone in. Don't know about anyone else, but when has an MLS signing really worked out for us? Because I don't remember one.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope the guy's a solid defender, but I do believe there is better out there, the $4m being quoted.

28 Jul 2026 10:05:56
Better for $4, Dizzee, many times you seen him play for declaring that?

28 Jul 2026 10:06:45
We act like that's a good fee, when it's actually pennies in transfer dealings.

28 Jul 2026 10:51:22
Ruh Roh another MLS signing! How we not learnt that they don't work.

Guess you've also watched this lad loads then, Star?

28 Jul 2026 10:58:56
Tell us about this player, if it's desperation! How many times have you watched him to label it desperation? I'm assuming you've watched him at least a dozen times to form this opinion, or is it the usual he's not good enough based on the league and club he plays with? Do you think the Rangers recruitment team might know more than you? I'm not having for 1 minute, Rangers are spending 3 million in desperation! If I was desperate, I'd just buy Gogic from St Mirren.

He'd cost a lot less.

28 Jul 2026 11:03:56
They need 2 centre halves. We only have 2 as things stand.

28 Jul 2026 11:16:23
Olwethu Makhanya was mentioned in this group weeks before. This isn't a panic buy.

28 Jul 2026 11:35:39
Never seen him kick a ball, Bigbluejim, but how anyone can say, better out there for $4m, when he's also never seen him kick a ball. Celtic signed Johnston from that league and he hasn't done badly. This talking about players you've never seen play is just silly as far as am concerned.

28 Jul 2026 12:05:18
They did get him from there, Star, but they seem to actually scout players better and get a good jist of the player and if he fits Scottish football. The price thing is crazy as £3m isn't much and relatively low risk.

But you also saw Cifuentes a lot and said he would dominate our league and make us a fortune.

I think being apprehensive of us signing this lad is justified, because nearly all our signings from there have flopped hard.

However, he does get the backing if he signs, just hope we have really done our homework on him first.

28 Jul 2026 12:17:33
Bigbluejim, I stopped watching that league as soon as Messi signed. Nothing wrong with having an opinion on players, but having it without seeing him kick a ball, it's a bit much for me. Good players can be found anywhere.

28 Jul 2026 12:18:52
3m is pennies in transfer fees, not the 90s.

28 Jul 2026 12:20:11
It's ridiculous to say they rushed this transfer because of what McInnes said. It's far more likely that McInnes knew it was happening, and that's why he said what he did. Last week, when he said two, it was obvious that Dragojevic was one, and probably that Diawarra was almost definite at that point.

With that falling through, we have had to move fast, but Makhanya will have been on the radar for a while, and sometimes, when you miss out on your first choice, you have to go down the list.

28 Jul 2026 12:24:52
Back ups not necessary right now, I would be waiting till near the end of the window once the first choice ones are signed for all the positions.

28 Jul 2026 13:14:04
Aye mentioned then forgot about because of other better targets haven't happened or went elsewhere! The desperate part is revisiting this guy. I'm basing this off past MLS signings, none of which have been able to cope with the demands here.

Like I said. I hope I'm wrong, I hope the guy is a solid defender. I will support him all the way, he is one of ours now.

28 Jul 2026 13:14:48
I agree, Star, especially defenders, as it's much harder to base an opinion on their stats, whereas it's easier to look at attackers and midfielders and see what they bring.

My apprehension only comes from the league we are signing him from, as can't even remember the last good example we have of signing from there.

Why when Messi joined?

28 Jul 2026 13:50:51
DeMarcus Beasley for us. 🤷. also down south there have been numerous including Almiron, Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, Tim Ream, Weston McKennie and probably many more. Pulisic didn't play in MLS but came through their academy system as did a few others. So the league isn't all poor. Their men's team made the last 16 of the WC and had 13 players who came from MLS at the start of their careers, and 8 still currently play there. How did Scotland do so? Not every Scot is successful here, so should we not buy players from here.

Yes, he may not make it here, as lots of nationalities don't, but to say he is rubbish before you have seen him is ridiculous.

Just looking at stat sites, his strengths in MLS are tackling and aerial power, which seem to suit the league here well. Also says his passing is one of his weaker areas, but at just under 80% pass success rate this season he can't be that bad.

Let's at least give him 2 friendlies before saying he is rubbish.

28 Jul 2026 14:16:52
I'm afraid to say guys our league is a lot worse than the MLS, they have crazy money over there, and Maurice Edu didn't turn out too bad eh. I'm actually raging Rangers didn't sign that right back Freeman from USA team, he's just gone to Villarreal, perfect Tav replacement.

28 Jul 2026 16:49:02
Dizzie Raskin, what about Reyna and Bocanegra, sure they came from early MLS.

28 Jul 2026 16:51:03
Makhanya is a priority signing and hopefully the deal goes through.

Two footed, very calm under pressure, excellent line breaking passer, excellent reader of the game, all round defensive skills are very impressive, and just turned 22.

Can also cover at Rb.

28 Jul 2026 16:55:46
Although, I've never met a nice south african.

29 Jul 2026 09:04:13
We've signed defenders in the past for buttons who play alright for a few months, and have other leagues come knocking for silly money. The lad is a very physical cb and decent on the air (see also Manny). Sure may not be amazing with the ball at his feet, but it's a blueprint for an old school cb that there's a market for a sell on.

He comes in, gets a few good solid appearances in against the lower teams to give the other 2 a rest and someone may come knocking in January with an offer we can't say no to.
