linked with Fosso at Graz again, are we planning on playing 11 midfielders?

23 Jul 2026 09:53:09
If we are signing him, we've definitely hit a few posts.

23 Jul 2026 10:11:10
No more CMs. We need wingers desperately. Although I think Aasgaard could really kick on this season and be a big player for us. Good comments from the gaffer re Aasgaard. Definitely gives us more in forward areas than Curtis, etc., who's just not ready for a starting slot imo.

23 Jul 2026 10:18:18
Curtis looks like a lost sheep last, sadly, he has talent but he's not a starter for us currently.

23 Jul 2026 10:24:22
Ryan, at least we know Godfrey isn't injured. Some are reading too much into a friendly game, where our players were training hard yesterday afternoon.

23 Jul 2026 10:38:14
Bit harsh on Curtis troops, could have said that about a good few players last night. Maybe give him another 45 mins against West Ham before we sell him.

23 Jul 2026 10:40:05
I think Curtis is better served going on loan this season with us bringing in a loan for a more experienced winger.

23 Jul 2026 10:40:18
If you want to be critical of people based on last night's game then you'll be pointing the finger at most of that team. Let's just hope things get better as things progress.

Curtis is more than good enough to play for Rangers.

He could score double figures off that left-wing next season if given the chance. He almost did it last season when you add his Rangers and Kilmarnock goals together.

23 Jul 2026 10:44:04
I'm glad it's not just me who thinks young Curtis just isn't ready yet. Just to think there were a lot of folk saying we don't need Moore because we have Curtis, which is just a honking footballing take. I'm not saying he is not good enough or he will never be ready.

He just isn't cooked yet because we need wide men who would like to take players on. He needs another loan. I'm genuinely a bit concerned about our winger situation. All the most effective teams have good wide men. We only have some that need to be punted and one that's not ready.

23 Jul 2026 10:45:52
If Curtis isn't good enough after 45 minutes, then neither is the rest of the starting 11 in the first half. Every one of them was abysmal. Changed shape second half, and Curtis was unlucky; he was sacrificed for that, and the team played better in second half.

23 Jul 2026 10:54:43
He might not be ready to start every game, but certainly ready to be a regular player even if off the bench. We need a squad, not just starters. Agree we need a starter on both wings, but he should still get plenty of game time.

23 Jul 2026 11:02:32
Transfer window is still open for another six weeks.

23 Jul 2026 11:06:52
Most of the players don't look ready to play first-team football for Rangers based on last night's performance.

23 Jul 2026 11:08:58
I've no clue if Curtis is ready. I wouldn't be expecting him to play and perform every week thou. He needs to be managed, and we definitely need a couple of wingers in to provide competition and rotate. He wasn't the only player who looked a bit rough in the 1st half last night. Patience will be required with most young players. Curtis is no exception.

23 Jul 2026 11:14:31
I've been pretty consistent in my opinion that Curtis would benefit from an additional year on loan. He's a talent for sure, but he still has a lot of development and it's been proven that Ibrox isn't the most forgiving environment for players to develop.

I always cite McCausland as a prime example.

He was thrown into the first team when he wasn't ready due to an injury crisis, showed in flashes he had potential, but as time went on he really regressed as his confidence diminished, and he stopped taking players on or trying difficult passes, and became a bit of a passenger who always looked for the easy option.

23 Jul 2026 11:24:02
I am of the opinion that we need 2 mid 20 something wingers, who are starters and have enough experience that they can teach Curtis/Gassama and let them shine in matches we expect to dominate.

Failing that, I agree that sending Curtis on loan again would be the best move for him.

23 Jul 2026 11:27:46
It's the fans, EHL, never give anyone time. Team getting slaughtered if you read the comments collectively, for a meaningless friendly. I don't think people actually realise what friendlies are for. It's not like the players are going to put themselves at risk of serious injury in a meaningless game.

23 Jul 2026 11:42:57
I am not a fan of paying 2-3 mill for a loan, to develop someone else's prospects.
However, if I was a defender having to mark Curtis or Moore? I might just pick Curtis.
Not because he is a bad player, but imo, he is not ready for full time 1st team. Great impact player at 60 minutes, but doesn't deliver for me over 90.

23 Jul 2026 11:55:38
The fans have been toxic when it comes to the players for years. It would be great if McInnes just called the fans out on it. Didn't he do that to an extent last night by asking people to 'go easy'?

Last night was a friendly. One in which just about everyone underperformed. I've read some ridiculous overreactions to it today, including a guy on Facebook who slaughtered the new keeper for one poor kick.

I admit I was expecting a lot more from last night. But I refuse to believe that this is as good as it gets under McInnes. Let him get a few more players in, give him more time to work with these players, and let's see how it's going in a few weeks.

23 Jul 2026 11:57:01
EHL, same!

I've said it for a long time now, the lad needs to process without the Ibrox pressure. If he/the club decides for him to stay, then he needs to be regarded as a squad player, pushing the starting 11, and possibly an impact player. Same for Gassama.

And it's not about ability, it's about consistency.

When they're not on it, they need to be a 7/10.

Also loved what DM said about Aasgaard. Something I've also been saying for ages. Needs to improve out of possession, the talent is there, but he needs to show he wants it more than anyone else.

23 Jul 2026 12:19:27
Curtis will get you double figures in goals and same in assists over the season, and these mostly from bench. Do not think he is an out and out winger and more a forward to be fair. Give team time to settle before we Wright them all off.

23 Jul 2026 12:23:30
Does Derek McInnes honestly believe he can get a performance out of Aasgaard week in week out or is he just bumming him up so that we can sell him. I hope it is the latter because we've all seen that last 20 minute cameo in games that don't matter and that's all we ever get from him. I read somewhere that our interest has cooled on Dahl and I only hope it's not because he thinks Aasgaard can fill that role.

I heard McInnes say that Sterling got an injection on his ankle and couldn't play, and I thought, here we go again. Starting the season with only one reliable right back, only this season we have McCrorie and not Tavernier. Very worrying.

23 Jul 2026 12:25:51
Cooper's dad, I have to disagree and would eat my hat if Curtis got double figures in both goals and assists, starting every game, let alone off the bench.

23 Jul 2026 13:20:11
Well, Derek McInnes thought it would be done by the game forever, so if our own manager got the timeline wrong, do you not think people in the know can also get it wrong. 😂😂😂

23 Jul 2026 13:22:02
It concerns me greatly we are looking at another defensive midfielder.

After being at the game last night, the one thing we do not need is any more number 6s/defensive midfielders. We need attacking midfielders. Shame there is no Norwegian wonderkids we can go and buy.

Our priority positions now are 8s/10s. Two wingers of serious quality, as Chermiti and Shankland require service to work. And we need a CB and another fullback that can hopefully cover both the left & right hand side.

We really haven't spent a lot of money so far. Dragojevic and Diawara will bring the spend up a bit. But we need 2 x 5 million+ wingers.

I think Dahl is an absolute priority at 8 million, and another player in attack at 3-4 more of a proper number 10 that can unlock the door.

Another CB on top of Diawara at 4-5 million, plus a fullback at a couple of million. Is 30 million too much to ask to be spent by the club?

Especially when sales will be made.

23 Jul 2026 13:32:25
Cryptic Bear, he got that last season.

23 Jul 2026 13:49:22
Curtis is good enough to be in our squad, coming off the bench and pushing others. He has the talent, just needs the consistency. I do think he will get double figures but coming off the bench.

23 Jul 2026 13:54:33
Unpopular opinion as well, but I don't think Rommens is as good as people think.

23 Jul 2026 14:20:35
I agree, BR5. I think there are better left backs we could get. He's a modern day athlete for sure but lacks real technical ability.

23 Jul 2026 14:21:36
Me neither, BR 5. Too much was made of him looking a unit when he signed.
