According to alan Nixon via his Patreon, Rangers are waiting to close a couple of deals, and the former Sunderland midfielder is well placed to be one of them, with the insider describing Neil as having "a good chance" of making the move to Ibrox.

Like the look of Dan Neil. Not the greatest season last year, but was brilliant when he captained Sunderland to the Championship. At 24, would be a great addition in my opinion. I like the players we are being linked with just now. I get that the World Cup slows the window down, but I'm hoping we can move some players on and get the new blood in early.
Been told we may need to wait on at least 2 till deep into the window, but my friend said they would be worth the wait. I'm adding 2 + 2 and getting Mikey Moore lol. Biggest hope is our players come back to the club without injuries.

Even if Rangers get Dan Neil, I hope every effort is made to go and get Elliot Watt.
