Hearts friend of mine has just forwarded some messages from a forum that Shankland is away to Rangers, he has a clause in his contract that he can leave for Rangers for nothing before 7th July.
I'd be amazed if it's true but thought I'd share it anyway since it's a rumours site after all ?.
I personally can't see us signing him as we've had plenty chances.

I'm the same as goatboy. Can't see this being the case with the contract.
Although, he did take an age to sign. So, there must be something in there, who knows. Would love to see him at Rangers but he couldn't play with Chermiti I don't think, and he's our first choice.

I doubt it, but if you're a Rangers fan and you're a free and Hearts desperate to re-sign you, would you not agree to anything to keep him, even if it's just for 6months to buy you time or even hope they don't come in.

Clubs desperate enough to keep a guy that can walk for nothing might just agree to anything. Doubt it, but you never know, maybe only way he would sign for Hearts.

Ewan Cameron saying on his X account that Shankland only signed a 1 year deal with an option of an additional 2, but will not take up that option and we have made our move. As sources go, I'd say Ewan Cameron should be a good one.

Shankland, Chermiti and Naderi are 3 really good striker options that all offer different things. Massive fan of that. Maybe Rohl sticking to the 4222 then?

With the chances we create, Shankland would score 25 goals easy for us.
And, not just the goals he'd bring to the team, he's a leader, he knows the league and is a fan, he literally ticks every box we are crying out for.
This would be a tremendous start to our rebuild this summer.
I for 1, sincerely hope it's legit.

As I mentioned before, there is a clause in his contract for certain clubs/leagues. It won't be for free but story has legs.
