Bluebear i have not heard of any concrete interest in Frederick Sjøvold although there has been murmers.

Very versatile young man and an exceptional talent but i think may be out our reach financially if we are wanting to strengthen other areas also.

Bodø will likely be wanting in excess of €13 million.

I do feel that Diogo Travossos or Hampus Skoglund would be better value and would allow us to spend in other areas of the field.

17 Apr 2026 20:54:00
Definitely wouldn't take a Bodo Glimt player

Too many of them leave, play poorly and head straight back to Bodo.

17 Apr 2026 21:06:21
Who would you want, Rangers 06?

You do not seem to have a positive thing to say about any potential target.

17 Apr 2026 21:07:12
The very fact they want to go back is purely due to the man management skills of Kjetil Knutsen.

He creates an atmosphere that players want to play in.

17 Apr 2026 21:58:25
Fair observation. But I think, when you look at the players who have left Bodo to a good level, the majority of them haven't been great, few exceptions, obviously.

Victor Boniface
Hugo Veltessen

After that the rest have been unimpressive.

If there are a few more success stories in recent times, then my bad, but too much risk with Bodo players imo.

17 Apr 2026 22:38:06
Apparently Arsenal want Hague.

17 Apr 2026 22:42:58
Agree with you both here! Think Bodo are so impressive purely down to the way they are managed and not necessarily because they have a team full of quality players. Don't get me wrong, though, they do have a few players I think would thrive in the top 5 leagues. Saw a lot of Sjovold this season and last in Europe and for me he's excellent going forward, but his defensive capabilities leave a lot to be desired. He has a mistake in him for sure (a bit like Tav.

?). Valued at £10mil, you would want a complete RB for that kind of money, someone who can defend as well as create. The young Swansea player Lissah (on loan at Falkirk) would be worth a punt in my opinion, Chelsea and now Swansea youth player, as well as Czech Republic U21 international. He's been tremendous for Falkirk this season. Defensively solid (he's 6ft 2!), creative and excellent going forward, very good on the ball and wouldn't break the bank at 1mil.

18 Apr 2026 07:00:56
I would love Lissah being a Rangers player, Rwn. He probably cost over 1m though, not much more.

18 Apr 2026 09:13:08
Cannot understand your thinking in that 06, makes no sense on the transfer of an individual.

18 Apr 2026 12:38:11
Perhaps Bodo players went to teams that they weren't suited to. You can't assess an individual based on that criteria. Bodo have played very well in Europe over the years, and whilst the manager deserves loads of credit, it isn't just down to him, the players also. The players have done it, so just need the right team and environment, and we have a manager who is also a very good man manager.

I'd be interested in several of their players if the money was right. Look at some of our good players that went for money, just one example is Shirley, who struggled at Ajax and now is performing again at Fulham.

18 Apr 2026 12:51:23
Coopersdad

It's pattern recognition.

Too many players don't succeed away from the club at high level, so to take a punt on a player for that much money would be so silly.

Great post, Hoth Cloudfire!

Rangers 06, what is the success rate for players leaving Rangers in recent years?

I believe Bodo have a much higher success rate.

Hauge played well for AC Milan before a poor move to Frankfurt.

Returned to Bodo.

Frederick Bjorkan moved to Hertha, who happened to be on a serious decline.

Patrick Berg moved to France. It did not work out so he moved back.

Albert Gronbaek doing well in France.

18 Apr 2026 13:23:56
Albert Gronbeck doing that well in France that he's not played there since 2024?

Hague was ok at best at Italy and Germany.

18 Apr 2026 13:24:50
Also the success rate of our players after leaving is absolutely irrelevant to us buying a player from Bodo.

18 Apr 2026 13:32:07
I don't know much about the guy apart from seeing him in highlights, but he looks very decent. But is that decent in the sense that he would come in and be another player that can't hold down the role on a permanent basis, or be another player undroppable from the starting XI? If you're talking £10m or anywhere in that ballpark, then it needs to be the latter, as we paid nothing like that for Rommens and he genuinely looks the part.

I'd rather shop in the £3-6m range and hope to find the same level of player than spunk away £10m, when we will be probably looking at 10+ new players after departures.

18 Apr 2026 13:38:59
Yes, he has been out on loan at various clubs, but remains a player they have high hopes for.

18 Apr 2026 13:40:47
Rangers 06, it is completely relevant.

What is Rangers' success rate for top 5 leagues?

Should clubs stop buying from Rangers due to pattern recognition?

Now, I agree that we should not spend that price on the specific player, but to link it with the club is ludicrous.

18 Apr 2026 14:12:50
Simple question, do you see the risks of buying a player from Bodo especially?

18 Apr 2026 14:19:29
Not any more of a risk than any other team in world football.

Simple answer for your simple question.

I see you cannot answer any of my questions, so I will end this conversation now.

18 Apr 2026 15:06:25
Bodo have shown, time and time again, their players struggle to adapt elsewhere.

Rangers have not.

18 Apr 2026 15:15:53
Again false.

Still no questions answered.

What is the percentage success rate of Rangers players going directly to top 5 leagues in last 5 years?

I see two partial successes.

Hamza Igamane - currently injured long term.

Nathan Patterson - initial promise curtailed by injury.

18 Apr 2026 15:59:14
If we limit it down to top 5 leagues as well as in last 5 years the yeah fair enough not great.

Bassey is a starting CB in the Prem.

Hamza was doing well before his injury (out of our control).

And Patterson seems to never not be injured which again isn't a fair representation of Rangers as a club that players who have left are injured.

If we look at Aribo, the using the same Bertha Berlin logic you used can be applied to him with Southampton and Leicester.

Other players playing at a good level who are performing well.

Hagi - Turkey
Morelos - Columbia
Katic - Germany
Herlander - Sweden
Todd Cantwell

As you can see there, there is a real different type of player, much older players than what Bodo normally sell, 2 different teams yet you try comparing them.

18 Apr 2026 17:12:42
Aphelion, I look at this as a healthy disagreement in perspective. I don't intend to hold it against you.

Think it's best to 'agree to disagree'.
Cause I see we're going nowhere with this.

18 Apr 2026 17:35:35
Cantwell is playing for a team near the bottom of the Championship and Katic has done very little since leaving us.

Got to disagree with your point completely, u can't write off players because they play for a certain team, especially when that team is performing so well.

18 Apr 2026 18:20:08
100% Bee82. No scout or club would be put off a player due to other players not performing after leaving their previous club.

18 Apr 2026 22:01:40
It's just ludicrous to write players off because of who they play with.
I don't care where we buy players from. I just care if they will be successful.

18 Apr 2026 22:36:33
Bee82, Katic has been immense since leaving us.

He's had MOTM at Emirates in Europe.

He's doing well for the national team, and he's smashing it for Schalke.

He's loved by the fans and he's a monster at the back.

I do admit I love that type of defender so I'm not working off stats, just the eye.

He's done pretty well for himself, I'd say.

I wish I could say I've done what he's done, I'd say he's been more successful than Souttar would be if he left us.

18 Apr 2026 23:04:25
I liked Katic, Stevie, and wanted him to do well, but he's playing in the German second division and was on loan at Plymouth last season. I wouldn't say he was smashing it, but I do actually have a soft spot for him.

He was a good defender, but was terrible on the ball, unfortunately.

19 Apr 2026 22:02:16
Some managers just suit certain leagues and Knutsen, I think, knows he has it really good there. Would be stupid to leave.

20 Apr 2026 00:34:39
Rangers 06 all fair points.

20 Apr 2026 15:59:46
Bee, while on loan at Plymouth, he got MOTM twice against EPL sides in the cups. One was Liverpool, I can't remember the other, it may have been Chelsea, but I don't think so.
