Going buy the comments and the lack of signing so far I get the impression we may be struggling to sign our preferred options.

To be honest I thought there would be 1-2 quick signings early doors.

ITK posters, are we getting priced out or are we not an attractive proposition now or are players just wanting to much money?

I know it's just the 5th January but I was expecting more as I think they would have been working on this for a while.
Granted a wee bit ignorant in how it all works.

I still hope we can still get a number of guys off the books permanently.

Let's just say that certain top end targets have received offers from teams and leagues that are more attractive than us.

Coupled with the fact that Rangers are attempting to place themselves as an alternative to a corridor that has proven successful for these players.

Unfortunately we have not utilised other markets enough and are not a proven corridor to the elite.

05 Jan 2026 20:09:25
It a bad thing if we're struggling to get who we want in right away it shows ambition to get quality and not just anyone in the door.

05 Jan 2026 20:10:36
Was hoping for a few in early doors, hope we're not taking a step back a bit due to current form and with connect 4 boy getting put back in the loft we can't afford to sit back, it's early in window but the sooner we get players in the sooner we can acclimatise them.

05 Jan 2026 20:11:25
Pieter I always think that agents will be aware of interest from other clubs and won't sign early if there is interest from one of the big 5 leagues. so imo i'm afraid to say I don't think we are as big an attraction to established stars who other teams are looking at. It is just 5 January though and still early as well.

05 Jan 2026 20:11:31
I think apart from left back the positions we were looking for probably have changed because of how some are performing I'd say we're looking for a cam a lb a wingers now if am honest and 4 or 5 out its never easy.

05 Jan 2026 20:14:01
January isn't easy to get players in apparently 1 close to over the line.

05 Jan 2026 20:58:44
I'd rather we shopped local instead of chasing dead ends that seem to waste weeks of every window. There are plenty of good players in the SPL including home nationals that would improve our squad and wouldn't be part of a bidding war with bigger clubs in better leagues.

We've missed out on many good players over the past few years only to spend more on absolute garbage.

05 Jan 2026 21:18:34
That's fair Gazza personally I would rather target those that the club feel can make us a title winning dominant force that can also compete in Europe.

And in my opinion the top Scottish talent if good enough will also be in the cross fire of bigger clubs and Leagues.

Most good Scottish players go to England or Italy rather than waste time in their short Career staying in Scotland.

So I guess what I am trying to say is if we are trying to attract the best we can, we cannot expect to be the only club attempting to sign that player.

05 Jan 2026 21:56:32
Aphe, I agree and add to that other Scottish clubs won't want to sell their top players to us in January especially this year with Motherwell and Hearts doing well. and even if they were willing to I imagine they will want a premium for those players.

05 Jan 2026 22:03:53
Gazza, I'd rather we sign the best player possible regardless of league or nationality, not every signing will work and some will work later. There's very few in our league that good or improve us and if they are good then there would be a bidding war but every player mentioned by fans seem ro have no interest in by anyone else, for example why is no one else interested in Devlin? Why aren't Hearts dying to keep him? Cause he's not that good.

Aphelion assuming Dahl is the one and since Frankfurt and premier league clubs are looking at him, he'll be a huge player in the future and paying extra will be worth it transfer fee or wages. There is a pathway from the Scottish league to anywhere just look at teams around us: Kuhn, Jota (got a payday), O'Reily, Biereth, Miller, Aribo and Bassey to name a few.

Peter Huistra,
'ITK posters, are we getting priced out or are we not an attractive proposition now or are players just wanting to much money? '
ALL OF THE ABOVE.
I personally think, these have been the problems over the last 2 or 3 windows ( at least)
Prepare to be underwhelmed ???.

05 Jan 2026 22:09:18
Unless you don't think you're capable of playing in top league then you stay in this league Aphelion, some will say different from me but nothing will convince me if you thought your capable you don't it.

05 Jan 2026 22:40:08
Peter a player we want does not fancy Scotland. I'm told we r highest bidder. I think if it does not happen before Friday we will walk away.

05 Jan 2026 22:45:05
Personally I'd be all over Tawanda Maswanhise, rw or cf, 2/3m either that other clubs sign him, only seen a few times but really impressed, friend that follows Motherwell and knows what he's talking about raves about him.

05 Jan 2026 22:48:57
Think its more to do with Thelwell sacking and how we waited just to get a temp appointment not a great sign.

05 Jan 2026 22:53:26
DJB its fair you mention they players but can i say that none are Norwegian.

Young Norwegians have an established route via Germany, Holland, Spain.

Rangers are trying to be an attractive alternative but seeing as only 1 player in that list went directly to a top 5 League from Rangers it is evident that the proven pathway is not there.

And aribo came from England and returned to England.

Players are looking at the likes of Jørgen Strand Larsen, Alexander Sørloth, Erling Haaland, Sander Berge, Antonio Nusa, Oscar Bobb, Sverre Nypan.

Only Kristoffer Ajer has shown that movement from the Eliteserien to SPFL to top 5 League.

I think that Rangers can become a good corridor but we need to be quick off the mark.

05 Jan 2026 22:59:05
My star unfortunately that is just not the case. Many Scottish players who are not capable have moved to England. Some even leave hearts, Aberdeen, Motherwell ect to play in League 1.

05 Jan 2026 23:20:28
You ain't getting me at all Aphelion, I ain't talking about lower league and talking about Scottish players staying in this league.

05 Jan 2026 23:26:54
Based on what I heard today, all priority targets are very much on target - there's further positive movement on outgoings - and depending how you look at it positive / negative news about a contract extension.

Also met Rohl again, he's certainly not 5 foot 8 and this time I checked and he wasn't wearing high heels.

06 Jan 2026 04:50:45
EHL, i think the one you're referring to when you state positive/negative news regarding our opinions on who's getting the extended contract is John Souttar, as i've been told it's close to being confirmed he's staying and imo correctly so ???.

06 Jan 2026 07:58:23
EHL, are you re-joining? or were you at the Training ground on Hearts business?

06 Jan 2026 08:05:00
Thanks all. I am still extremely hopeful.
Whatever happens I think AC especially gets what Rangers is now and DR get it and will be doing their best to get DR target's. If they don't come that is not down to them.

Time will tell.
Glass half full, been a good start to the year, let's build on it.

06 Jan 2026 09:32:22
@EHL it states online that Nancy is 6ft 1, I thought Rohl was towering over him the other day haha.

06 Jan 2026 12:32:36
We always talk about snobbery from Rangers about not buying players from other Scottish clubs but is it not just snobbery to assume that the other clubs will just roll over and sell us their best players in the middle of a season that they are doing well. We could sign Devlln on a pre contract but we won't get him until the summer and we won't get anybody else from Hearts.

I also don't think we would get the likes of Watt, Maswanhise or Bowie without paying way over the odds for them. Yes we need players on but we also need to be sensible. The last three wins have taken the immediate pressure off and if we don't beat Aberdeen twice it won't be because we haven't signed a couple of players.

06 Jan 2026 14:11:18
Drew, no, no.

I also have a role within the SFA, so was there in that capacity.
