{Ed's Note - gdog55 has posted a new article entitled, Rangers Need Perspective on McInnes
01 Nov 2026 15:46:24
Think that's a fair enough read, gdog. You're correct in that some fans - even on here - never wanted McInnes in from the start and that is clear to see in their comments.
I do feel however that as fans folk are "entitled" to express their opinion on any given situation, be it about the manager himself, any decision he may have made, or anything a player does on the pitch, without having the "entitled" accusation levelled at them.
Their particular point of view may be seen as being biased due to an opinion that was formed based on previous events, but I just don't see how "entitled" would even begin to describe any Rangers fan given the dominance of that other lot in the east end for long enough now.

I think if you spend any time in the live chats you'd know what I mean Parlane.
Of course people can have opinions and not all opinions will (or need to) agree.
But thinking we have to and should win every game and that any time we draw a match is a catastrophe that calls the manager, players and any chance of winning anything into question is the "entitled" I'm talking about.
Never in our history have we won every game. The best manager in our history never won every game.
The two most recent examples sum it up. In that chat Dundee were a terrible team in a second rate league and we should be walking over them. And the other night we had similar rhetoric about how we "should be beating" Hearts - a team who haven't lost at home for a year and a half and who had won their last 15 or some such. "No point beating Celtic if we can't win these games".
That's the sense of entitlement I'm talking about.
It's ripping out of us as a support and we need perspective. Or we'll just keep going round in the same old circles.

Gdog, some of the stuff i read on here is bonkers after dropping points, not a club anywhere on this planet wins every game, after the Dundee game i never even looked for a couple of days after reading some of the stuff getting posted, we took our chances against Dundee we win that game easily.

Going to be ups and downs all the way to end of season , we are a young team and if we can land the league cup it will do their confidence the world of good in our battle for the title , a few games of putting games to bed early by taking our chances would help fan confidence going forward.

It's not entitlement. It's expectation. We're not entitled to win every game but we should have expectations to do better and demand they give their best. It's about standards. When u spend 10s of millions on a team, of course u should expect them to perform better than ones built on buttons.
Obviously shocks can happen like Fleetwood v Arsenal but shouldn't be the norm. Can u honestly say most weeks u watch us u can tell which team is the expensive one despite the massive gulf in wages etc?

Well said Gdog, I don't think our fanbase is used to being in a title race tbh and are that used to having nothing to play for by Christmas that any dropped points just makes us think we have messed it up. We just need to keep calm and so do the players and keep picking up points. We are heading in the right direction.

Well done, Gdog, a good piece. I came home from Hampden last night and came on here with some measure of excitement, expecting praise for the team, individual players, the manager, the club in general. Within a few minutes I was back out after reading some of the doomsday drivel and negativity from the usual suspects, the laptop lamentables.
While a few understood where we were, are and are trying to get to, it seems others just cannot wait to wade in with a fair amount of bilious comment even after we became the only club which still has a treble in its sights - and don't make me laugh by saying Hibs are still in a race for the league.
The manger is doing good work with these players and will continue to do so in spite of the - spite, really, from the keyboard critics.

Gdog,
I get the point you are making, and you're correct, but IMO it's not a sense of entitlement. The examples you use in your reply to my own post are actually pretty factual.
Like it or not the Scottish top division is a 2nd rate league - at present ranked around 20th in Europe. The performances overall in Europe from our clubs gets worse with each passing year. Do we even recall the names of some of the clubs to embarrass both Glasgow teams?
And if we're beating the other lot that have won 15 out of the last 16(? ) titles then dropping points to other clubs, of course that will negate the points won in an OF match, and that in itself will for sure lead us to "going round in the same old circles" and handing them yet another league flag.
Said it plenty of times on here we need to be up for EVERY fixture regardless of the opposition.
BTW if you want to see actual entitlement in full flow head over to Celtic's rumours site right now 😁.

Parlane, I didn't mention entitlement, I talked about unwarranted, over-the-top criticism.
01 Nov 2026 18:44:58
So it's the fans, the same fans that filled up Ibrox every week, when down the league's, the same fans that sang so loud we were putting fear into teams at Ibrox during our Europa run, nothing to do with blowing millions on players not good enough? Give us something to cheer about were some of the best in the world at it, if we don't play so well we're entitled to voice that, if your a player and you can't handle that, maybe they are at the wrong club. How on earth can we be entitled, having won next to nothing for 15 years? Entitled is winning 14/15 titles and calling for the managers head after 2 Old Firm defeats.
There's guys on here that get absolutely carried away season after season after a few good results, then there's other guys that can look at the performance and realise we won't keep getting away with it, that's not entitled gdog, that's just pointing out how we see it, sadly we've been right 95% of time, because we've called it correct we're the problem, really. Of course we're all buzzing about getting to final, but we're always going to talk about the performance, especially after 2 horrible performances against Hearts and Dundee.

Gylnde, my own replies are addressed to the original poster, gdog, soz if you felt otherwise. I agree that sometimes the criticism can be a bit OTT. I also am aware that folk can react in the heat of the moment, especially in a live chat situation.
Only reason I responded to anything was because I disagree totally with the entitlement accusation. For me that simply isn't a factor. 👍.

I think some of you need a dictionary more than an explanation. 🤣
Listen, if you want to argue that a large amount of our fan base don't think we're entitled to win every game we play in, and don't get their panties in a bunch when we inevitably don't win every game we play in, then you're absolutely able to make that argument.
I'd question your observation skills, or your sanity, if you tried to make that argument. But you are of course welcome to make it.
This can be true and fans can still be supporting the team, in a second rate league or otherwise, or in the lower divisions of that league.
More than one thing can be true at once.

Gdog, we've been in the wilderness for years with some atrocious teams we've had, anybody that's felt entitled, that we should win every game would need there head checked. Up until a few years ago it was a formality that Celtic would beat us, every time they played us, and they did, and we would absolutely struggle against the rest, nobody was feeling entitled, infact the only thing we felt was sick! I honestly can't comprehend how any fan base can feel entitled after 3 trophies in 15 years, heartache after heartache.
I follow Rangers absolutely everywhere all around Europe, have a season ticket were i very rarely miss a game, the sense I've had from fellow supporters over past 15 years has been hope, not entitled.
