John u had mentioned further down the Stig will be leaving soon mate, thanks for sharing that with us.
It's obviously for the best however we probably are best to see the window out as is otherwise it could be worse, unless we have someone lined up ready to go.
My take on it is there's too many cooks in the kitchen.
Purdy, Thelwell, Stig, and probs others I don't know of.
I liked koppen and how he was the figurehead. I know he had staff but he was the one face if that makes sense.

He's not that long got the gig permanently. It's been a revolving door without any results.
12 Aug 2026 22:12:40
One thing for sure is that our Chairman needs to get our house in order. These debacles cannot continue year on year??? We won't survive.
12 Aug 2026 22:34:04
Yately, absolutely, I feel the key positions have been wrong twice now.
Souness would be a good man to rebuild the football dept or someone like him.
The owners clearly have the best intentions but they have bad judgement, Thelwell, the guy from Man Utd, Martin Purdy Thelwell Jr., and, sorry, but I think Stig too.
All major mistakes.
I like McInnes and think he's the right man but he's being let down.
13 Aug 2026 01:43:11
If it's true, then why wait till now to get rid of all 3? It's another mistake from the people running our club. They are making mistake after mistake. It's getting embarrassing now. We are beyond a laughing stock these days.
13 Aug 2026 06:47:16
It's absolutely not for the best, he's leaving as he won't work with the two clowns.
Souness is a dinosaur and has not worked in the game for over 20 years.
13 Aug 2026 07:02:12
If Stig leaves, John, this is absolutely shocking. And, like you say, leave these 2 inept so in so's, Dan Purdy and Robbie Thelwell, in place. 😡 I had heard originally it was those two that were leaving, mate. 🤔 Is Graeme Souness definitely coming into work for Rangers, and if he is, do you know his position/title? 🤔
13 Aug 2026 07:53:24
Stevie G, why is Stig leaving seen as positive, that's not the way I see it. Plenty of people should be out first.

Can we quash this Souness returning nonsense? In a DR article Souness advises what he would do if he were making decisions at Rangers, and explicitly states his football days are over and he is happy with his life as it is.
As far as I can tell, this rumour was started by SirWalter yesterday as the OP on a thread by pulling the headline rather than actually reading the article, called out by Gers78 on yesterday's thread.
Stevie vaguely mentions Souness, or someone like him, then John advises he's a dinosaur in this thread, then SirWalter asks for confirmation if Souness is actually returning, and in what capacity. SirWalter started the rumour based on a poor interpretation of a DR article, and is now looking for others to give it credence.
Souness is not returning to Rangers and is not advising them on transfers. Let's put that one to bed.
13 Aug 2026 08:14:30
When you say Souness is a dinosaur, John,
Do you mind if I ask if that rationale is based on personal knowledge on Souness or purely your view based on his age and time spent in the media?
Personally, I don't think he'd be interested in coming back anyway, but if he did take charge of the footballing department and oversee recruitment, it would be all about getting the correct people around him and surely having him in charge overseeing things can only be a good thing for our club at the moment.

Laudrup, let's get a few things straight, my dear friend. 🤔 I posted and wanted to share what I heard regarding the possible sackings of Dan Purdy and Robbie Thelwell. 🤔 It didn't make any rumour up about Graeme Souness, I merely read an article stating that Souness has given advice and an answer to any possibility of working for Rangers in the future, that's it, lock, stock and barrel.
🤔 So when John had said Souness being a dinosaur and away from the game for far too long, I merely asked John a question if he had an info regarding Souness. 🤔
13 Aug 2026 08:45:39
SirWalter, you may have read the article, but you posted the headline, which was quite misleading.
The detail or the article - Souness has ruled out a formal return, stating: "I'm not interested. Those days are gone. I sleep at night. I'm 73, I have the most wonderful life. And you get reminders all the time about some really close pals dying recently. I hear of stories of former players getting dementia. I'm just going to make the most of what I've got left."
John mentions Souness is a dinosaur and away from the game for too long and you ask 'Is Graeme Souness definitely coming into work for Rangers, and if he is, do you know his position/title?' Not sure why you would ask that based on John's statement, other than to build on your post from yesterday, which didn't represent the facts of the article at all.
So let's all agree this is complete nonsense and move on.
13 Aug 2026 09:00:02
Agreed.
Based on his interview that I watched a few days ago in which he stated that he had no interest in returning to football in any capacity, I assume other than media.
He did have a lot to say though.
I'm not sure he can be described as a dinosaur.
13 Aug 2026 10:10:33
Well said Laudrup. It was clear from the article Souness has no interest at 73 being involved again. These Yanks need to find the best in class Director Of Football they can afford and let him make the appointments he wants in the football department to support Derek McInnes. If it goes Pete Tong you can then hold him accountable, as it stands just now it's pass the parcel for blame but it lies at the feet of these Yanks owners IMO who don't know what they're doing.
Own the club, great, leave the football decisions to a DOF and hold him accountable for his appointments, decisions and signings. Too many Indians and no chief
