We talk about "mentality" within the playing squad.
The same can be applied to some of our fans.
We are one of the few clubs where some are always asking for the manager to be given time.
Whereas our biggest rivals continue to dominate no matter who is in charge. They even won the league with a pensioner who hadn't managed in 20 years.
Even Motherwell last season had a good campaign by their standards with a new manager. And with a new man in charge had a convincing aggregate win in Europe even after losing a couple of key players.
We also have some saying Tannadice is a difficult place to go to - last season they W7 D7 L5 at home. Not exactly the fortress some are making it out to be.
Standards & expectations amongst some are falling to cover our shortcomings.
In the words of the late, great Walter Smith:-

No Huey, it's that certain fans have dropped their standards of what is acceptable at Rangers!
2nd place not being acceptable, let alone 3rd! Or the mentality of it's okay, we will win 1 title in 15 years. As long as we give a manager 3 seasons of failure first.

Blame the fans who followed this club from the lower leagues all the way back to the top of Scottish football? Nope, never going to happen.
Winning a game of football is the job of the manager. If he can't cope with the fans at Ibrox, how will he cope with the pressure of an Old Firm at Parkhead? He knows what the pressures are, "he gets it", it's why he was hired.
So he needs to deal with it and win the league.

Understanding that we're a team who have been in constant transition and who are at the start of another rebuild is very different from being a fan who has forgotten the standards of our club.

Personally, I understand both sides of the argument. I get the need for patience, and it's only one game, but I get the anger that it's a reoccurring theme over 6 seasons. Throwing stats around doesn't matter as we have different sets of variations now. Highlighting history the same. The board made mistakes last year, have they learned maybe, but football has changed so much that it's not about trophies anymore, it's about being wealthy. Project players come, and after a year want the next move up.
Players from other big leagues arrive, and can't handle the pressure. Our trading model is confusing to me.
However, my biggest bug bear is how teams like Friday night can change tactics and we seem to have no answer. If we are learning, supposedly, then we recruit for a pragmatic approach and change it when required. Yet front line not mobile, no real guile, and a defence that's not very positional aware. After McIness remakes on "new signings", I wonder how the land lies now.

Exactly Ehl, again the voice of reason. We have very rarely had it easy at Tannadice, add in first game and they were fitter, then add in that a game at home v Rangers is a very big deal for their fans and club.
I have seen this over many many years, I never expected anything else on Friday, I knew it would be a battle and I knew we probably wouldn't be totally ready.
But we had way more shots and should have won, it's nowhere near as bad as some would have you think, and the vitriol shown by " supporters " against the Scottish Rangers people is appalling but never unpredictable or surprising, supporting is the very last thing they do.
Walter had many poor starts, many awful Euro results and was given time, we have slaughtered anyone connected with him ever since, Derek will find a right shape for his team and will improve them massively, I have an inkling for Aasgaard to play off Shankland myself, I don't see how Chermiti and Shanks works, yet.

Pretty sure he's gutted he lost 10 times against them.
Whereas some fans on here are accepting a draw because:-
1/ First game of the season
2/ Tannadice is apparently a fortress
3/ Dundee United had already played 4 competitive games.
And constant transition isn't the fault of fans.
I lay that squarely on the board for making numerous incorrect appointments and signings.
Last season, the majority of our defence was loans or a RB who was finished 2 seasons before.
This season we have gone all in on midfield, forgetting we need attacking options.

The fans are to blame for chasing Gio and Clement out when we should have been more patient and understanding of the fact they were hamstrung with injury crisis and downsizing the squad. If we had backed Gio to get thru a rough couple months, instead of acting like a bunch of spoiled brats, he would have turned it around.
If we had been more understanding to Clement, who was dealing with an utter shambles off the park and a downsized squad, and gave him a couple more months, we would have avoided Russel Martin, and, if we backed Gio, we would have avoided Beale. The two worst mistakes we have made since Pedro.

Beale has the highest win rate of any manager in the history of Rangers FC. Half his squad were injured when he was sacked. He signed players like: Dessers, Butland, Sterling, Raskin, Sima, etc.
We will make millions of pounds of profit from the business done by Beale.
So it's weird that some think Beale should not have been given more time. But Clement and GVB should have.

Maybe if we could get our recruitment sorted we wouldn't be in rebuild mode every single season.
It was stated here that we were set on a club DNA and we would have a model set up. Yet this seems to be very far from that.
Again the reason we are in rebuild mode yet again is poor recruitment, poor decision making from those at the helm.
We seem to change direction every 2 mins! So we will never be out of transition.

Beale signed Lammers, Dowell, Cifuentes, Cantwell noticed how you left them out all on crazy wages. He started well but he absolutely killed us with his recruitment that summer, left us with no wingers and a squad who hated him by the time he left.
Clement proved he can win titles with two different clubs and if we had backed him the way he r backed Beale he would have.
