Oh no! What's happened?
Cardiff talks for Hjerto-Dahl progressing
Latest from Sky Sports News' Anthony Joseph and Sahil Jaidka:
Cardiff City are advancing in negotiations with Tromso for midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl.
It's understood the clubs are edging closer to an agreement, after the Norwegian side rejected a £5.5m bid from Cardiff earlier this week.
If the clubs can work out a deal then Cardiff would still need to agree personal terms for the 20-year-old, who is keen to weigh-up all his options.
Rangers have also shown an interest in Hjerto-Dahl, but are yet to make a fresh bid - and are now progressing with a deal for Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic.

If he's even considering Cardiff, I'm not sure he has the right mentality to be a Rangers player?
2024/2025 - Cardiff relegated to League 1.
2025/2026 - Cardiff promoted to Championship.
If he's even considering them along with Rangers, that says it all.

Mph, why would he not be considering them? If they agree a fee and we don't, he only has that option, so it's wrong to say what you did.

I've also read reports from other media outlets that Rangers won't be signing Dahl and he's now likely to go elsewhere. ☹️ Probably that's why Rangers have now pushed ahead to complete the Vanja Dragojevic deal. 🤔

Tattie, I'm not sure I'd want to come to this basket case if a league either. What those at the top of our game have done to our league over the past 30 years is scandalous, while they pay themselves astronomical salaries and bonuses. It's f****** unbelievable. They couldn't have destroyed it more if they tried. We have become the laughing stock of football while other nations of similar size thrive, become much better. We become worse.
With European places set to become an all time low, and those reprobates in charge, I only see it getting worse. How many players down the years have said they didn't understand the size of our club until they got here? The huge problem we have is getting them here. Saw a post yesterday from EHL saying something along the lines of the club being annoyed that 3 high up targets chose somewhere else. It's so disheartening. Sorry if I read that wrong, EHL.

Agree, if he is happy to play for team likely to be fighting relegation. As to fact, if he is that good, why is it between Cardiff & us? Surely, if as good as some say on here, why are there not more clubs interested. Not another Olsen.

Good post, bb4.
If Dahl performs at Cardiff, he will get a move to EPL, plain and simple, and the Championship is a better league than the SPFL. That isn't even debatable imo.
16 Jul 2026 13:48:31
I hear what you're saying, MPH, and I get your point.
Although, if he went there and was to play well, it would likely see him get a move elsewhere regardless of Cardiff's standing.
16 Jul 2026 13:56:50
I don't agree, MPH. Cardiff aren't comparable to us as a club, but the Championship is a big league and if he does well there, then he's got a good chance of getting a big move to the EPL or another top 5 league. At the end of the day, unless Rangers agree a fee with Tromso, then he doesn't have the option to pick us over them.
We need to offer what we believe he's worth, and if we're gazumped by Cardiff or anyone else, then so be it. We shouldn't over pay for players.

Just like Dan Neil had signed for Southampton, SWS.

Sws deal for Dragojevic was done last week as per watp891, very accurate info.

How many players who stand out in a yo-yo club (relegation then promotion then relegation) get picked up for a higher level?
Not many.
I could see the point if he went to one of the clubs challenging for promotion to the EPL with better players round about him.
Villa have signed a player from Southampton.
Brighton have signed a player from Middlesbrough.
Everton have signed a player from Middlesbrough.
Man City have signed a player from Leicester.
All from teams who were in the hunt from promotion.
Apart from Man City who signed a 16 year old for £12 million!
If Dahl is as highly rated as some think on here, should he not be putting more faith in his own ability and staying where he is at the age of 20 until a better team than Cardiff come calling?
Or hang off for a team guaranteed European football every season and put yourself in the shop window that way?

Mph, Championship is a superior league with more quality. Still believe Dahl will soon be wearing a Rangers jersey though.
16 Jul 2026 15:16:46
Cardiff are nowhere near Rangers in quality, MyStar.
