Hindsight is a great thing, commentators are saying that the changes were made far too early but it worked out well in previous games and they didn't complain then.
Think that both semi finals results surprised everyone bookies must have made a fortune as they say you'll never see a poor bookie.

Having watched England, I certainly wasn't surprised. They've been carrying luck last 3 games, let's be honest. As for Spain and France, I honestly thought that was an absolute 50/50. Not as surprising as you think, mate.
Looking on here, most seemed to think England, but talking to most in the street etc fancied Argentina, same as myself.

England beat England here. They totally f*** it. They were playing great, going toe to toe with them, and got a deserved go ahead goal. Then they shut it down. Like, what the holy hell. England haven't kept a clean sheet in the knockout round at all, and Argentina was averaging 3 goals a game.
They couldn't seriously think that they were going to keep a clean sheet here. With all that talent, England put together. This seems like they threw it away.

I think any team that tries to sit on a lead for 35 minutes is asking for trouble.
I do believe there are differences between doing it against Mexico and Norway, and doing it against the current world champions.
I think they would have stood more of a chance had they not stood off for as long as what they did.
For me, he took a gamble and it didn't pay off.

Bottom line is this is the First time in the tournament they've played a top 10 side and they were outplayed.

Agree AlloaGer, didn't think England played well at all and were fortunate against Mexico and Norway. The Argentines controlled the play, dominated the ball, and were the better team. I'm over the moon that they are out. I hope France pump them as well.

I bet both teams, as I couldn't believe the prices the bookies were given. It was buying money. Spain should have been favs, and it should have been closer in betting in the Argentina game.

Totally agree, rfc55. Not sure at what point in the game they were playing great.

I don't think either outcome was a surprise, only the exact nature of the Spanish win.

You can't defend and go that deep for over half an hour still to play against a team as good/at the level of Argentina. 😲 You can't invite them on that early and try to hold/cling onto a 1-0 lead, you're only asking for trouble. 🤔

💯 Walter, soon as they sat in and defended the lead, I knew what was coming. We've seen this with Argentina how many times? Another manager who got a new deal before the WC, maybe in hindsight they should've waited.
I'll tell you another thing, England at 1 stage had 5/6/7 really good centre forwards, proper 9's, Shearer, Cole, Wright, Fowler, Owen etc. Who's coming through to challenge or replace Kane?

Worked out in the other games? Or got away with it more like. Tuchel blew it big time. Not to say they might not have won anyway, but I'd be gutted the way they gave it away.
