Guys i agree re some of the Scotland comments, but i honestly think some of you think we are better than we are.
Robertson is/was our best player he was past his very best over a year ago. Mctominay who is an excellent player along with mcginn, but are any of the 2 elite? I don't believe they are. You then go through the rest,
Gunn, decent keeper
Patterson, played under 400 mins last season, again decent.
Mckenna, enough said.
Hendry, not bad for spl.
Ferguson, don't get the hype
McLean, decent.
Doak, good we player.
Shankland, be good for us in spl/europa but out his depth at world cup.
I get the frustration of lower ranked teams scoring more or doing better, but lbh we aren't that good. We have a good solid midfield, but defence and strikers/wingers were gash, always will be unless Doncaster even attempts to do something to fix our game. For the posters saying he picks his favourites, who would you pick instead?
I'm one of the fans that spent a small fortune travelling over there, but i do it for the love of my country and the joy I get travelling with all the other scots. I'm as gutted as most but, just remember we were playing 2 nations in the top 10. Whenever I go to watch Scotland it's always with hope rather than expectations, you'll be full of disappointment if you didn't.

Ferguson has been Scotland's best player at the tournament, captain of a top 6 team in Serie A, and won the Italian Cup not long ago.
Hickey, 20m full back, McGinn won the Europa League as Villa captain, McTominay was nominated for the Ballon d'Or not long ago, Doak, another 20m player, Robertson is a Champions League winner, Christie plays week in, week out for a team who just got Europa League in the prem.
We have a very good squad. My issue is we are very weak in goals and at CB, and it costs us in tight games. There's a lack of athleticism in the team too. But we aren't really blessed with many big powerful players.

I wouldn't say it's we believe we are better than we are, it's more Clarke has us play the same way every finals & plays his favourites like Tierney out of position just to get them in. McGinn is not a wide player, doesn't have the pace for it & is better in the middle.
Morocco & Brazil didn't look like they tried against us, they were playing in 3rd gear most of the time & Doak was about the only one who gave them something to think about.
Morocco's RB & LB were terrified of getting ran at & what did Clarke do? He brought on Dykes & McLean to try & get something when he should have brought on Shankland & Curtis, probably the same result, but at least they'd have been more of a chance.

I think that's a fair assessment, BB4. However, the team have been so passive and uninspiring in the three tournaments Clarke has led them to. I just think that fans like yourself, who spend their hard earned money following your passion, deserve better fare when we do make it to the big stage. It's almost like the approach SC takes to get through the group is damage limitation, and that's not on the players.
I almost wonder if he saps their confidence before they even get on the pitch by taking that tack. Telling your team you don't trust them is rarely a winning strategy in any business, let alone football.
I always feel a top level coach can winkle our performances that are more of the sum of the whole. Sadly that's not where we are.
I might have more sympathy for SC if he took more accountability, but I don't think he has.

Boy Blue, did you actually watch Ferguson at the World Cup?
He was outstanding against Morocco and Brazil.

Bb4, good post.
Ferguson being the best player for Scotland is not a thing to shout about as it wasn't hard to be the best player for Scotland as we were that bad.

Robertson won Champions League years ago wishy, if you can't see he's well past his best then fair play. Hickey could be worth 100 million, like Roofe at us, no use always injured. Christie can barely get a game, but is someone I would have started. Again, Ben Doak, decent player, but nothing else.
McGinn/McTominay have class players all around them at club leve, imho Ferguson playing for a top 6 club team in Italy isn't a huge flex. I would like Ferguson at Rangers but at World Cup level he's nothing spectacular. I don't think he was outstanding against Brazil/Morocco either, thought he was good though.

Very well summarised, BoyBlue. ?

Boy Blue, I'm not arguing they are as good as Brazil, but the squad should still be able to compete with other European teams like Switzerland, Austria, etc. We have good players, just a manager who is too scared to take the hand breaks off.
