He never looked confident taking that pen
Bloody hell ??.

So relieved to see PSG win, gutted for any player in that situation though.

30 May 2026 20:37:46
Just walk up, strike it. 2 of the Arsenal players done run ups like prancing ponies and missed it.

30 May 2026 20:38:23
The gods of football helped PSG beat anti-football, and it was glorious.

30 May 2026 21:00:04
The irony is we got to a Euro final with anti football and not one person would have complained had we won in 2008. It's all about winning. We should know that by now. Would have preferred a British club to win over a foreign club, being a Brit and all.

30 May 2026 21:04:45
My daughter is a big Arsenal fan and distraught at the moment to say the least. Because of our connection with the club, I'm gutted for them tbh.

30 May 2026 21:16:35
PSG is a club I have zero time for, would prefer British myself, Bigbluejim.

30 May 2026 21:28:25
PSG are a great team, Arsenal don't have the quality at the top end of the pitch, they never parked the bus; they simply couldn't hold on to the ball.

30 May 2026 21:37:54
Ironic that the great PSG could only score with penalties in the game and afterwards. Prancing ponies overprotected by a ref who looked as if he had never seen a tackle before.
I will say though that I am fed up watching offensive players stand back and let centre backs take important penalties.

There is no way Gabriel should be taking that penalty before Madueke and Zubimendi. I'm a big fan of Eze but he got in his own head with that dreadful stuttering run up. Shocking.

30 May 2026 21:41:08
Arsenal have it a really good go.
Feel for them.

30 May 2026 21:53:21
I enjoyed the game apart for the result. I actually like a good defensive display and despite all their supposed attacking talent, PSG weren't able to really lay a glove on Arsenal in 120 minutes of football. Can never understand having CHs taking penalties when you have good attackers on the field.

30 May 2026 21:58:22
Agree, Angus.

30 May 2026 22:01:29
Just back from the game and as a Gooner, I have to say the better team won. I will always love Arteta for his time at Rangers and for winning the EPL with my English team - I lived in Dalston in the late 80's - early 90's - but setting up to frustrate in Europe's showcase isn't on.

I hope he learns from this and realises the true potential of the talent within his team.

Ps, it was never a penalty re Madueke.

30 May 2026 22:13:27
Arsenal had a game plan and executed it brilliantly, nullifying one of the most potent strike forces in club football. Towards the end of the 90 and extra time, Arsenal, I think, had the better attacking options on the pitch after the subs were made.

Thought they could have went for it more.
Anyway, if you stutter and act like a fud when hitting a pen in that situation, then you deserve all you get, put your foot through it and hit the target. Feel for Arteta tho.

30 May 2026 22:26:08
What do I have to do with this conversation, Mystar?? But good to know you prefer British. :/

30 May 2026 22:34:12
Bigbluejim, it was TJBB, must have thought it was you.

31 May 2026 04:15:19
The Champions League final was dull, very very dull. Arsenal would send you to sleep, and to believe PSG would not create either an opportunity to score, albeit a penalty is highly unlikely. Another thing, all that garbage before it started. My God, they are trying to make it like the Super Bowl.

Admit I'm an old git, but do today's football fans really want The Killers miming their way through a medley of their songs? It's a pile of rubbish. Get back to the European Cup and save football, the Champions League is mince.

{Ed078's Note - solid post

Hate this British football talk because the English laugh at Scottish football. Its English football not British until there's a British league.
