Aribo available on free, surely an upgrade on Aasgaard or Dio.
Any comments?

You will get the usual never bring former players back brigade, but he's still relatively young, versatile and an upgrade on many of current squad. I'd be delighted if he was brought back, especially on a free.

No thanks. The guy's 29 going on 30. Want to invest money on guys on the way up, not on the way down.

Players that "get" Rangers, players who know what it takes to win a league, players that know the league but they can never have played for Rangers previously. We are leaving ourselves a very slim market.
I'm not overly fussed for ex players or what league they come from, but I really like big Aribo, thought he was class. That said, I haven't watched him once since he left, that I can remember.

Big yes for me upgrade on Asguard.
21 May 2026 19:25:54
Tav, that is the point though, as you say. He was decent. How good is he now? Couldn't get into the first 11 of a relegated Leicester side, I think. So, how do you judge how he is playing now and at what level?
21 May 2026 19:29:44
No thanks, not the player he used to be. Don't think he ever turned up in any Old Firm game, plus struggled for game time this season in a poor Leicester team.
21 May 2026 20:04:52
I'm not sure how good he is now. I haven't seen him play, as I said, but was only last season he was playing 32 games in the top league.
I was merely pointing out people want players who know what it takes to win in Scotland. 1 league title and 1 Scottish Cup in 3 seasons, European experience? a Europa League final with Rangers in which he scored playing in one of his many positions.
Knows the league and knows what it takes to play for Rangers? Yes. Are there any candidates out there that fit that criteria better than Aribo?
I'm not saying I'm one that agrees with criteria, just thought it was something I'd read on here a few times. If we don't sign Joe Aribo in the summer, I can't say I'd really care.

Aribo isn't the same player that left us. I heard this suggested a few days ago by someone else. I went on to a Leicester City forum to see what their fans were saying about him. One said he hadn't kicked a ball in 9 months prior to joining them, and apparently he was garbage when he was with them.
21 May 2026 20:53:48
Tav, I thought I was agreeing with you and supporting your point, if it wasn't obvious that was the case.
21 May 2026 20:57:49
Of course he's not the same player he was when he left us. He was a £15/20 million player all day when he left. The question is, is he an upgrade on what we have, and that is a yes.
21 May 2026 21:15:31
Apologies Angus, I thought you were implying I said we should sign him.
21 May 2026 21:46:25
Get him signed.
21 May 2026 21:57:57
I asked people what they thought Curtis would be worth in the transfer market, and Angus told me it was a "moot point" since it wasn't happening.
But, Joe Aribo returning isn't a "moot point". Can you explain why this conversation isn't a "moot point", Angus? Do you have information that Aribo is returning?
21 May 2026 21:59:17
Tav, no problem, I wasn't as blunt as normal, so can understand that. ?
22 May 2026 04:12:03
A free sounds like a no brainer as a squad player, but will he have the same drive now his Prem dream has failed.
22 May 2026 07:12:20
Not for me Joe Aribo's time at Rangers has come and gone imo. ? Bringing him back would stifle the likes of Findlay, Curtis etc and I feel it's better we move on with other players and not looking back to former players. ? ??
22 May 2026 07:43:06
No thanks. I liked him but didn't think he was outstanding, he had a few good moments but not regular enough and if he is a shadow of what he was then why would we want him back. People need to look at the here and now.
22 May 2026 10:20:03
I wouldn't bring Aribo back, but would bring Sima back if it was possible.
