Anyone think Billy Gilmour is achievable? He's not had all that many starts for Napoli this season (albeit the manager has just walked). Napoli bought him for £12M and I think he would be much the same now depending on length of contract remaining. It would be a bit of a dream having him as the 6 and Ferguson as the 8. Could be financed by the sales of Raskin and Fernandez (think Diomande will also go). That would be your Scottish core right there.

I like the way Gilmour hunts and is always moving, he patrols rather than aimlessly running about.

Gilmour and Ferguson would be a brilliant duo to have in the team. Even if we could afford their transfer fees, I doubt we would pay the wage that both would demand. If I had my choice of the two, it would be Gilmour, though.

Gilmour and Ferguson would be a dream pairing for us, but sadly only a dream. Would rather Gilmour than Ferguson, but either would be a top signing.

Gilmour has been injured for about half the games this season, which is part of the reason he hasn't been playing. I always think he slows things down, and there is a lot of backward and sideways passing. We have lots that can do that. However, mainly I just don't think we will buy any of these £10M plus players.

Wages would be a massive stumbling block.
Would either of them actually want to come to Rangers, though?
Agree, would be unbelievable if got both, maybe include Barron in a deal, Italian teams looking at him back in January, and most fans see him a squad player at best.

I don't think their wages are out the realms of possibility, tbf, a cut would be needed but not as big as some people think.

Angus, I don't see much of Billy outwith Scotland. Every time I watch him play for Scotland he is always passing forward or at least trying to. He will look to receive a pass no matter how much space around him.

9 times out of ten he will still keep possession. The we mans head is on a constant swivel. Would be an excellent signing, but wouldn't happen.

9 times out of 10 on here, when near enough any player is mentioned as possible target/someone who people would want brought in, there's always multiple people that mention an injury or injuries. It's the risks of the job. Most players get injured multiple times throughout their career. But, yet, it seems to always be mentioned constantly on here.

BB4, I agree with that; he is willing to accept ball in tight spaces and won't lose it often. I just think a lot of it is like McGregor where the ball is recycled to the CBs. I know that this is what a player in no 6 does a lot of the time, but I prefer the passing to be more progressive. Different players, I know, but McGinn and Tielemans for Villa tonight were what I would call always looking for that incisive pass.

I just don't see that often enough from Gilmour. It is that I want from our no 6, I guess. My main point is really, I just don't think we are spending that amount of money on either Ferguson or Gilmour even if they wanted to take a step back into the Scottish league. So I also agree with you on that.

OT, I mentioned it about Gilmour in defence of him not getting much game time this season.

However, also mentioned it on Max Johnston, who has had 2 seasons of hamstring and muscle injuries. So do we really want to buy a player with that type of recent injury history where Rohl plays a high impact game.

So sometimes it is relevant despite it being a risk in the game if the injuries are all recent and for same injury.

Think the quality, tactical knowledge and levels of the players around McGinn and Tielemans allow them to be able to look for the incisive pass. Villa have a very fluid and mobile front line. Don't think we will see the likes of Miovski making the runs Watkins makes.

? When McGinn plays for Scotland, he plays a lot of backwards and sideways passes. ??‍♂️
Anyway, Villa were very good tonight, I'm glad we aren't playing them in a pre season friendly, they would murder us.

Rfc, absolutely Aston Villa are better than us, but I'd still love to play them in a pre season friendly mate. ???
