Now, now, John, stop winding up the guess brigade.
07 May 2026 16:04:47
Now that's just fantasy stuff, John. ??
07 May 2026 16:06:29
Aye, depends on what league. Would be in with a good shout in the Championship.
07 May 2026 16:13:31
I'm only posting an example based on fellow posters who say we r signing players I have named.
Albeit, I did say a deal for Olsen could happen, although I understand that's conditional on our league position.
If our standard is Dykes, McBurnie, et al, I will retro going regular to watch EPL as long as health allows.
Not so long ago we were talking Dahl Doehki.
07 May 2026 16:19:35
But who is the manager of that team, John?
07 May 2026 16:27:22
John, who's the captain?
It will be Rohl, unless he tells Cavanagh he wants to be closer to his family imo.
07 May 2026 16:30:51
Yes, hoping it's all just noise. Would be very depressed if there was any truth in majority of them.
Would expect them to invest heavily this summer so we need a plan that hopefully works. Supporting this crew is wearing me down.

John, when I posted the guys I want in, I was thinking about the overall squad, mate.
Currently, we have a squad of players made up of expensive loans, expensive foreign imports that don't have the heart, and misfits that have been here for years, that struggle or we can't get rid of.
I'd take Devlin and McCrorie for free. I'd have taken Shankland and McKenna for free last season.
4 guys that know the score and would cost £8-£12m less than we'd pay for lesser imports.
People get excited on this forum by foreign imports that we are linked, me included. We never know how well these guys will do. Most end up on the subs bench.
If the 4 I mentioned just end/ended up as subs, then fair enough. It's a squad game, but at least they haven't cost anything. Easy decision!

I see the funny side of what John is doing here, but hand on heart and being serious when I say this, ie. Josh Windass would have been miles better and a far better signing than Aasgaard, Gassama and Antman imo. ?
07 May 2026 17:20:54
He definitely would have coops.
07 May 2026 17:28:43
Walter, don't disagree Windass may have been better, but that does not make him standard that can win us league.
Walter, I can't see the funny side. I've laid out near 15k for four season tickets before cup ties.
Rosto, the guys u name would may be reasonable squad players.
We do not want Skakland, that has been case for last 10 years. McKenna going east. Devlin no better than Barron who can't get game. McCrorie would not be a free but can play three or four positions.
imo to win the league we require 6-8 starters much better than we have.
07 May 2026 17:51:55
Winds would have contributed much more than Olsen imo.
07 May 2026 17:54:26
That's my argument re: Shankland / Windlass debate etc is that we should have brought in better and because those who we did bring turned out weren't doesn't mean we were wrong not to ignore the likes of Windass.
Although I'd have brought Shankland in on a free when we had chance but would have spent good money on him.
07 May 2026 18:12:28
Better with:
Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow; Greig, McKinnon, Baxter; Henderson, McMillan, Millar, Brand, Wilson.
I wish!
07 May 2026 18:21:49
Actually that's not a bad bench, John, apart from Olsen. Now concentrate on 1st XI. Totally agree with u though about needing 6-8 starters to win the league, yet some say we have the best squad and should have won the league this year. ?
07 May 2026 18:32:05
Kaiser, u and I know we do not have the best squad, we only need to look at the table.
07 May 2026 18:35:55
I totally agree with you, John. Some of the names mentioned we would be fighting for top 6. We need starters that make the 1st 11 better, not players that enhance the squad.
The players in the squad will drop to the bench or be sold.
07 May 2026 19:40:09
John, you are right. We will need 6-8 to have any chance next season.
Plus, this season, what have Djiga & Olsen cost us in loan fees & wages this year? I would also guess Souttar & Rice have cost us more than 20k a week, all for little return.
Recruitment is going to have to be far better going forward, especially looking more at temperament as well as skill, because some of the signings have just not adapted to Scottish game.
07 May 2026 19:55:41
Not bringing in Shankland on a free transfer when Dessers left was a major error, he is Scottish, a Rangers man, a leader and an experienced goalscorer in our league. He would have cost nothing and his wages would not have been prohibitive.
Instead we paid money for Miovski whose style doesn't suit us and who has been out of form since he left Aberdeen. Just another piece of the terrible legacy left by the imposter and Thelwell.
07 May 2026 20:48:27
Wsl, I didn't always want Shankland, but I said in summer I would rather have him than Chermiti or Miovski.
We shouldn't have got rid of Dessers, imo, if we still had him, we would still be in a title race.
Only a few weeks ago when debating Chermiti and Dessers someone said that Chermiti could bring us the league this season and Dessers never did. How did that work out?. ?♂️

John, I'm a bit confused with your original post. Is it a way of saying you don't believe there is any truth in some other posters' rumours?
