For me this season too many games have come and gone where we don't control them and that for next season must change how long have we said we need a 6 that control tempo of a game?

This is a must in recruiting. As well as nearly a full new defence and wingers ?‍♂️ it's frightening the amount of players we still need. It's been a terrible start for the USA owners but hopefully they get it right next season.
The fitness of players also needs addressed.
If you control games you have more chance of winning.

Excellent post, Storm, a number 6 that brings clarity and control to our build up is essential.

The appointments of Thelwell, Stewart and Martin were absolutely a terrible start for the Americans. Since the sacking of Martin, I have seen a different approach from Cavanagh. He has been more hands on and at more games, discussing the way forward with fans. I like this approach, and although I have major concerns re other things going on at Ibrox, I am happy to trust the process and back them to get it right going forward.

Recruitment has to be right in the summer, and Cavanagh will know he can't get it wrong this time. Whether he pulls the trigger on Danny Rohl or not comes down to the next week or so and how we finish. It will be an interesting watch for sure. ?

Unfortunately, the pressure is off now as regards the title and very few in this group show the appetite for the fight.

I thought Stewart and Thelwell were in place before the takeover. Apologies if I have misread your post, Florida.

I've got to agree, Storm. They made a mess and totally underestimated the club and what was required, but I do think they have tried to correct things. I just hope they get things right this time. Depends where they get their advice from tho. Skov and how much we overpaid for Naderi do concern me, how much they've learned tho.

We need to get the business done sharpish. We then need to have an excellent pre season where the players are conditioned properly. None of this playing for 45 mins s***.

06 May 2026 12:59:18
It's something we have been missing, Storm.
A midfielder that is calm under pressure.
But we sadly lack that throughout the team as well.
Strikers that can hold the ball up to release the pressure on the defence and bring willing runners from midfield into play.

Wingers who will take a man on to create chances and put the opposition on the back foot.
A goalie who's distribution was better would also be a bonus.

You are absolutely right, we needed to sign a No 6 in the January window, especially with Barron being injured and instead we signed Chukwuani, who is a decent player but doesn't play the position that we were short in. We also needed an experienced striker and we bought a raw kid, and then the topper. We brought in a winger who hasn't kicked a ball in 2 or 3 seasons and thought he would start to turn it on because it's Rangers and the league is crap.

It was said the transfer window would decide the league and it has.
Lee McCulloch was linked with a role in the recruitment team and he is the type we need, somebody who understands the club and the league.

Would that No.6 be Lewis Ferguson, Storm? ?

06 May 2026 14:12:00
Good replies guys.

FB, the chairman will not sack Rohl no matter what happens in next 3 games. I don't see it personally.
Wsl, doesn't matter about Barron as he isn't the 6 that can control a game. He is industrious, that's all imo.
Mph, agree with your post.

Coops, no idea.

I don't think we can get Ferguson, but you never know.
Kasier, I had doubts about Naderi at the time, with price it was at least 2 million more than we should have paid, and he hasn't done much so far and is injury prone. Hopefully we see the best of him next season.

Ferguson has struggled significantly in Italy since ACL, I'm not sure he is a six.

06 May 2026 14:58:49
Jardine, my understanding was that Patrick Stewart was appointed to see us through the takeover. This was sanctioned by the 49ers before they took control of the club. They were impressed by his executive experience at Manchester United, and he was recommended by Sir Alex Ferguson at the time. It was Stewart who then brought Thelwell in. ?

I hope, John, it's just they had to replace him while he was out, so he is struggling to get back in and not any major issues as a result of it.

06 May 2026 15:03:51
Thanks Florida, so much has happened in the last year, my ageing brain can't keep track of events.

06 May 2026 15:18:51
Got to hand it to you, Storm. Your post about the need to control games next season is spot on and the best post I have seen you make.

You are a different guy when you use your thought process, rather than barging in and trying to close down debate or controlling the agenda.

Keep it up.

06 May 2026 15:41:04
My brain has been frazzled for the last 30 years. No worries. ?????

06 May 2026 16:09:38
Once a Ranger, I have never tried to control the agenda or tried to close down a debate either. If you think that it's fair enough, it's your opinion, but I disagree and won't be changing what I do or say on here. What you see is what you get with me. ?

06 May 2026 16:21:30
Storm, I bet your missus rules the roost in your house. That's why you come on here and act the boss. ????

06 May 2026 18:36:15
Florida, not a chance, mate. ? She knows am the gaffer. ? She would never look on here either. ?
