I completely agree with your post. Can I ask everyone's opinion and just an opinion if we had signed shankland for £0 in the summer, do you think he would have scored more goals playing fir Rangers than Chermiti?
This by no means fact just what everyone thinks. I'm just trying to make a point on my previous posts. ( let's call it a bit of fun question)

I don't think Shankland would have scored many, if any, under Martin.
Under Rohl, I suspect that Shankland would be comfortably in the 20+ league goals.

If we signed Shankland a couple of years ago, when it was first floated, we would be chasing three in a row, in my opinion.

It was absolute madness not getting Shankland, McKenna and Mulligan in the summer for free. Lewis Ferguson and Ross McCrorie should be on the books as well.
I understand some players don't want to come, but we don't make enough efforts to snap up Scottish based bargains that are competent playing in our league.

Mulligan didn't want to come and we would never have got McKenna, he has no affiliation to us and his wages are way more than we pay. McCrorie is bang average and he would have been getting slated if he was still at Rangers, as he did when he was here. He was allowed to leave by Gerrard because he was not at the standard that he required for his squad.
If we are turning back time then, Gerrard should have been backed and not allowed to leave and Clement should have been given more time and backing because he wouldn't have started the season as badly as Martin.

I think our squad would have been stronger and more competitive with MacKenzie, Mulligan and Shankland.
It's hard to be critical of the club as they did attempt to bring all three in.
However, with the change in Head Coach all three were pulled.
I'm pretty confident we'll see us sign similar players this time round, and I'm pretty confident the forum will thrive on hating them.

I think, even sticking with Ferguson and the SPL players he wanted, then adding quality as well, we could have been out of sight, but who knows.

I get what you are saying, wsl. I liked McCrorie as a squad player, but we swapped him for Scott Wright, then Aberdeen sold McCrorie for 2.5m.
However, I'd rather we have squad players who know the make up of the league and what the challenge is at Rangers. If Mulligan didn't want to come, then we have to look at why we are struggling to attract free players from our own league.
I don't know what McKenna is earning in Croatia, but surely paying no transfer fee must've been attractive.
As for him having no affiliation to us then that's no signing criteria whatsoever, mate. That full 11 on the pitch on Sunday would be nowhere near Ibrox if 'affiliation' was a key criteria.
I agree that getting rid of Clement was the wrong move. Doesn't matter who you get rid of if you replace them with the right people.

From what I was told, Mulligan was already coming and it was us who moved the goalposts.

Rostoso and others, Mulligan stated in an interview that he had decided to join Hibs in the January window and that was before Martin and co. McCrorie and Wright were not a swap deal, they moved in different windows and we got a percentage of McCrorie's sell-on. My point about McKenna was that if he was a fan or an ex player, he may have wanted to join us, but he's not, so only money would get him.
He was on £ 50k a week at Forest and will be getting something similar now. This bemoaning players we did not get is getting old now and players not joining is not always the fault of the club.

McKenna doesn't get in out 11 and imo would be 5th choice.
