So, 5 Scottish players in our whole squad? And, don't take that as anti anything. I just think, in our full squad, if we only have 5 homegrown players, then that's not good enough for me.

Orange, I agree. I just don't see enough of the academy coming through just yet.
The homegrown percentage does need to increase, but it needs to be players who are good enough.

I wouldn't be against signing Kenny McClean as a squad player in the summer. He's a more than decent player and his Scottish.

For a start, Kaiser, I would rather we spent more money on an established Scottish player. Maybe not within our budget, but I mean people like Lewis Ferguson. Over the years we have missed out on ones that have done relatively well elsewhere. Hickey, Fraser, Doig, Mulligan, Lennon Miller, Jack Hendry, Shankland, Ross Stewart. So, going by that, I am sure there are some up and coming ones that we could be looking to bring in. I also like the boy Milne from Hearts.
If we had moved sooner, maybe we could have had a chance at Wilson from Hearts. Penrice would have also been a shout. Mulligan, we missed out on as well. Obviously we have high hopes for Curtis and Glasgow, and hopefully Lyall Cameron. There are definite possibilities out there, especially if it's as a 2nd choice in a position. Gives them an opportunity and who knows, that could lead to becoming 1st choice.

OT, we only have 5 Scots this year, with Cameron and Curtis on loan, and 2 of those are the keepers. It is a problem we have had for ages.
Yes, it would be good to get more Scots in, or even homegrown, but in reality that will need to be through our academy doing better.
To be hornets though, initially I just want a team who can win, and nationality has nothing to do with it.

I totally agree with you, and was not criticising OT. Unfortunately, we've missed out on those standout ones, and haven't heard quite as much chatter about many current Scottish players we could target from this season. If there are any others not yet picked up, who would u like?

OT, how many of the names actually wanted to come to Rangers but did not? How many did we look to get? How many did we actually bid for? Mulligan was coming, but RM said no. Only one I can think of.

Fork agreed that is completely possible that they didn't want to come. I have said the same things many times in the past about players. But, we need to try and include more Scots, I feel. John, fair enough on the homegrown thing.
I thought most would know what I meant, but no worries. Aphelion, where did I criticise your post? Honestly, at no point did I criticise it. I made a contrasting post. If that's what you took from it, though, I can't help you there.

OT, I think most get where you are coming from, but pointing out how difficult it is to get to the point you are talking about. Tone is difficult to get right, and even pick up as the receiver here. Don't think anyone was disagreeing in the sentiment though. ?

Aphe, I'm no expert, but I really can't see Dahl signing. Looks like he'd do a job, but he must have a lot of suitors.
