Another big day for both men's and women's teams.

Both start today 6 points off the top, hopefully both ends the day a little closer.

Have a feeling we may be celebrating a double double this year.

Sorry, weekend, not day.

14 Feb 2026 10:04:20
I got a feeling that if we don't win tomorrow, the boo brigade will be out, and the vultures will be circling Danny.

14 Feb 2026 10:22:41
Possibly a treble for the Ladies in the EHL; they are already in one cup final. The Ladies are in cup QF action this weekend, so hopefully one step closer to more silverware.

Careful with the positivity on here! But I'm with you!

We shouldn't be booing or having a go at Danny Rohl and our team. Even if we do come up short this season, it's all doom and gloom, boom and bust with a few of our supporters, who should concentrate more on supporting the team and giving them full backing to hopefully get us over the line. Very fickle bunch, some of them. ?

14 Feb 2026 10:58:38
What would you say? You are right about the discontent with the fans and media if the result does not go well, as we have somehow got ourselves into a challenging position and failed to capitalise, so expect to hear and read things about lack of character, mental strength, etc.
Rohl, for me, as I've said before, has done a good job with what he has inherited, but I still feel it may be next season, with another window behind him, that he can hopefully field a team that he wants to challenge in all competitions.

Key areas still need to be strengthened in defence, with a ball-playing midfielder and in attacking areas.
There was a lot said about the team needing some older heads in January, yet that never happened. We could do with one or two experienced players who can make a difference when the pressure is on.

14 Feb 2026 11:22:03
Sorry, forgot to add that the biggest issue for me with the team is we don't keep the ball well enough.
And this is not just on the back of the other night; we haven't got that type of player or players with the range of passing that can hurt teams.
If we don't keep the ball, then we can't create.

When we play it out from the back, it tends to go either wide to a full back or to a centre half. We don't have a deep lying midfielder who demands the ball at that point, and we lose a lot of possession from those areas.

14 Feb 2026 11:57:13
He has done a good job as a whole, but no one should be booing them, as we don't expect to be in a title race after Martin. The only reason we are is because they brought Nancy in and never kept O'Neill full-time.

Only five behind Hearts EHL.

14 Feb 2026 13:58:01
I don't know what Danny Rohl's input into recruitment was, or what the limitations were, but we missed a trick to fix some things in January, and it will probably cost us. We needed an experienced striker to get Chermiti out of the team, and we overpaid for an inexperienced kid, and we need another midfielder, preferably one with some attacking flair and a few goals.

We did neither, and so our main issue, lack of chance creation and goals, was not addressed. Sorry to say, I think this will be crucial when we look back on how the season goes from here.

What a lot need to remember is that many fans do not believe the concept of following the team through thick and thin.

I blame social media for this.

14 Feb 2026 16:28:20
John, it's nothing to do with social media. It's always been like this for a long, long time, just easier to read it. Can you tell me who isn't supporting their team? Being unhappy about dropping points, etc., is not the same as not supporting the team.

14 Feb 2026 17:25:02
Stormtrooper, here, here.

14 Feb 2026 20:13:50
I think people will boo, and prob right to, after dropping points v Hibs, shaky v Killie, dropping points v Motherwell, then poss defeat to Hearts. Of course they will boo.

Still say he would be the right man to lead us into next season, though, regardless.

Let's just get behind the team and manager tomorrow.

14 Feb 2026 20:16:45
Agree with Storm.

Think it's more a fallout of 9-in-a-row; fans get used to winning, and when it goes the other way, for as long as it has for us, frustration is bound to show.

Very unfair to blame it on social media.

14 Feb 2026 21:00:56
Storm, it's my opinion. In the 60s, 70s and 80s, fans got behind the team much more.
The name-calling abuse of many of our players is embarrassing.

14 Feb 2026 21:47:24
100% John, in the 1970s and 1980s, often the team would go down one-nil and the fans would get galvanised when a Grieg, Forsyth or MacDonald put in a crunching tackle, which would gee up the fans who would get right behind the team.

My pals and I would often come away from a game, basically, saying
the fans won that match. There were also boos in those days too. But, on the whole, the fans were a much more positive influence on the team compared to now.
