Wee question for the forum ( and Ed's).
In regard to Moore's second goal getting chalked off.
The commentators said the ref was brought to the monitor by VAR as it was a "subjective decision".

Does that mean the VAR team couldn't decide / agree if Diomande was offside or interfering with the goalkeepers' view?
And decided to leave the decision to the on-field referee?
Which would insinuate that a couple of referees all looked at the incident differently?

{Ed001's Note - offside is not subjective, so it would have to be whether he is interfering and that should be down to the on-field referee to decide on anything like that.}

Cheers Ed.
Just wondered why the VAR team would put it back to the ref.
Is their job just to point it out that the ref / linesman might have missed it?

{Ed001's Note - yes, they are only supposed to be assisting, not deciding.}

It was 100% the correct decision Dio made a movement by letting ball through legs and yes the keeper saved it but if Dio ain't there they would argue he could have caught the ball. I don't know why fans think it should have counted.

Ed, what's your view on VAR?
Personally, I don't like it.

{Ed001's Note - I don't like it, ruins the flow of the game and makes it stop start like American sports, which I hate.}

Was the ref maybe looking at the potential handball which occurred before the offside decision came into effect. Diomande was definitely offside.

We at SK Brann have led the calls to remove VAR and to put resources into improving the standard of referees.

10 Nov 2025 10:02:42
I'm the same as you, Storm.
The keeper moved to his left to get a look.
If Diomande isn't there, it's straight at him.
I'm not disagreeing with the offside.
Just wanted to know why VAR didn't just say it was offside.
But Ed001 has explained it perfectly.

I also don't like the fact that when a team scores, you're not sure whether the goal is going to be disallowed.

MPH, I believe the wording of the rule, is if a player makes an action to play the ball, which Dio doesn't.

For me it's very similar to Robertsons for Liverpool at the weekend where he ducks out the way. I would say dios is closer to being chalked off for me because he's closer to the goalkeepers line of sight.

I think if either goalkeeper hesitates until they see if the player gets a touch then yeah fair enough, but both keeper make an immediate attempt for the ball and therefore think both should have been allowed.

That's just me though.

It was actually an excellent save by the keeper all things considered, Zikos.

10 Nov 2025 11:27:19
Both offside and interfering with play. no goal. between his fouls in bad areas, yellow cards and send offs. diamonde is fast becoming a liability. shame foe Moore great goal.

10 Nov 2025 11:50:35
I kind of agree with Zikos that the goals were broadly similar but there was a huge difference between the two. Robertson ducked under the ball and walked away, no way was he interfering. Dio let the ball go between his legs, in some way it could be claimed (not by me just to clarify) that it was a dummy on the ball.

For me, the right decision was made in our game but completely wrong in the Liverpool game.

Thot it hit the boys arm the 1st shot so should have been a pen before offside.

10 Nov 2025 12:03:19
On what Ed said about VAR is exactly how I feel, The flow of the game is completely ruined it's so stop start, I don't enjoy football nearly as much as I used too. Fans and players afraid to celebrate and the biggest point for me is I can accept human error in Real time but can't accept a decision that's been made by Var after multiple replays and still get it wrong! Get rid of Var for me.

10 Nov 2025 12:13:50
Zikos there is one or more interpretation of the rules that is one but if he is interfering with the play and blocking the GK sight it's a stonewall offside going by rules. It's also nothing like the Robertson one at all. Robertson wasn't directly in the sight of the keeper.

10 Nov 2025 12:14:34
Also whether the keeper saves the original shot is irrelevant also.

10 Nov 2025 12:43:50
Storm I don't think his line of sight is blocked. In either situation.
