Loads of talk about if we can catch Hearts ( and Celtic ) and still win the league.
Some say mibbes aye.
Some say mibbes naw.
Time for the MPH Supercomputer to swing into action.
With a potential 87 points up for grabs, if Rangers won every game till the end of the season, we would have 99 points.
Enough to have won the league 5 times in the last 8 years ( excluding the Zoom title ).
Now I don't believe anyone thinks we will win every game.
Only twice in these 8 years has the 100+ been broken.
If we remove these 2 anomalies, then the average points to win the title would be 91 points.
Which would equate to 3 defeats over the course of the remainder of the season for this.
But none of these defeats could be to Hearts or Celtic.
If we apply these same parameters to Hearts. We beat them 3 times and they lose a further 3 times.
Hearts will then have a potential points total of - 94 points.

And the same with Celtic. We beat them 3 times and they lose 3 times.
Celtic will have a potential points total of - 86 points.
The gap still wouldn't be closed.
Hearts would win the title by 3 points.
Hearts have currently not lost a game.
Hearts have a good of +15, 3 times the next best.
Hearts currently have 4 different players in the top 10 goalscorers.
Can Hearts keep up the momentum?
Can Celtic re-group under O'Neill and then a new manager?
Doable for Rangers?
It's a huge ask / task from a team who blew the first half of the season.
And a team currently finding its way under Rohl.
But the beauty of football is that we all live in hope.
It's emotional.
Full of passion.
One minute we throw the toys out the pram, the next we are cheering from the roof tops.
Keep the Faith?⚪?.

Good stats mate it's highly unlikely but this season has been crazy so it's not impossible but need to win tonight.

That's they type of post I like! Some might say you're mad but I think we can do this. Not 100% sure I believe in it, but I am fully with it. You have to have confidence.

We CAN definetly win this league, no doubt about it. Get that ball into the box and get those wingers working and yes this can be done.

I spoke about this yesterday MPH. I really think mid 80s wins it this season as I can't see hearts sustaining and there are more teams that can do damage like Hibs, Dundee United and St Mirren.
We are definitely not out of it but need to go on a run and hopefully we are lucky with recruitment in January.

Not sure about the league but would take a cup double as a consolation.

82 won it in 2017/ 2018, Blue89.
And 87 won it in 2018/ 2019.
The past 4 years, it's all been low 90s except for 2022/ 2023 which was 99.
You could well be right.
Any team that goes on a 10-15 game winning run will be right in the mix.

This seasons eventual winners will do it by a record low points tally as only Hearts can realistically have a points total at the end similar to previous winners.
Hearts have no European football or major injuries to contend with and have another 6 games to play against Old Firm so expect them to be far less productive post January.
The fact there should be 3 teams fighting for it would indicate these teams all taking points of each other in the head to heads which again reduces overall points from each team.

People say Hearts can be backed again in January but Rangers and Celtic will also have funds which will be more than Hearts and more attractive for incoming players paying better wages and being far bigger clubs.
I think by Christmas time all 3 teams will be a lot closer and genuinely think Hearts will finish around 10 points behind both of old firm which is a major improvement than recent seasons where the team finishing 3rd is usually 30 points plus off leaders and at least 20 behind team in 2nd.

Good post mph. Shedding light on how difficult it could be for us with sensible stats to back it up. Not impossible but very hard mate.

29 Oct 2025 13:45:40
Aye, I've a feeling it could be a case of "what if" at the end of the season, BoyBlue.
What if we had never appointed Martin.
What if we got rid of him sooner.
What if a couple of those early draws were wins.
But that doesn't matter now.

It all comes down to who performs best over the next 29 games from Rangers, Hearts and Celtic.
At this moment Hearts are the most settled team.
Rangers are the ones that need to up our game the most.

Fifty, My thinking mate ?.

29 Oct 2025 14:39:33
What if the correct decisions were made in the Kilmarnock and Hearts game the same weekend mph, if the correct decisions were made were 1 behind Celtic and 11 behind Hearts.

29 Oct 2025 15:15:48
They weren't though MyStar.
And I still think Hearts would have beaten us.
Though if they had we would probably still be stuck with Martin! ?.

29 Oct 2025 16:30:28
Mph, That is the bonus mate, still him I'd be dreading tonight game.

29 Oct 2025 17:08:21
That's exactly my thinking mph. We should have changed manager at least a month before we did, what ifs sounds about right to me as it stands, that, hopefully our thinking could change over next 4/ 5 weeks.
KEEP BELIEVING TROOPS!
