I was doing some coaching work earlier and was chatting to some of the Scottish youth coaches - asked them about Smith and Johnston and they don't think there's any chance they'll stay in Scotland.
Said the same about 3-4 of the young prospects from Celtic, they reckon they're heading down south.
And most surprising of all, they think we're facing a serious battle to keep Lowry.

FruitBear, is it just naivety or an opportunistic dig? You don't believe that club chairmen, CEOs, Directors of Football and all the rest never talk about potential transfer moves?
You think it all happens when somebody rings the 'start transfer talks' bell? You think there are no clubs who have heard from us regarding players we might want to move on?
You think that agents are sitting around patiently waiting to punt their charges and not already making market moves?

There are dozens of players just going on holiday knowing their future is already sorted and will be confirmed in a fortnight. My friend merely passed on info that a director told him, that there was a lack of interest in any of our players.

Never once did I say I don’t believe what you are saying was mentioned to you by your friend who’s a friend of a director. If your going to question anything you read on a fans rumour site then You’re defeating the purpose of coming on it in the 1st place.
It’s the mere fact that I don’t believe there is any reason to panic when we’ve not been bombarded with offers on the 29th of May! If it was the end of July and nobody has sniffed about then that’s a different story altogether. Still very early days.

Difficult time of the season for a lot of young boys at various clubs.
When it’s been your dream for a number of years and it doesn’t happen it can be quite traumatic, hopefully one or two will go on to have football careers possibly at a lower level. Football clubs should be offering assistance where they can to make sure the young men have the support needed to move on with their lives. Football has been their everything since they were kids they now face a tough transition.

The watchword next season will be fluidity and the players we have signed or are targeting emphasise that. We will utilise all the space going forward and players will operate in between full-backs and central defenders while switching their individual areas of attack. We might have a player who will operate all across the front line, horizontally instead of vertically. I see that being Cantwell. The only static part of the unit will be the back three or four. Hopefully it will resemble the old 'total football' the Dutch Masters perfected. Exciting times, I think.
