I think if we look at it logically if we have made an offer for Danilo then we must want him. I know 1908.nl have said we are no longer interested but I think that is guesswork on the back of Dessers signing. I personally don't think it was one or the other.

@GDog10 - Ronald de Boer’s comments made Danilo sound the better of the two. The one more like Morelos, but with the ability to score goals. Also, off the ball Danilo works extremely hard to get it back he was among the 97th percentile in the top 8 leagues for winning the ball back. The modern formations require high pressing which Sima, Lammers, and Danilo, could all do. Plus, Danilo is only 24 and could’ve been a Rangers players for the next 3-4 years then be sold on. With Dessers there is little opportunity of a sell him on as he’s 29 next summer.

Personally, I would’ve preferred Danilo. I hope we are still going to get him.

Gdog10 I think purely based on last years problems up top we wanted someone coming in with a great goals record. Danilo only had 14 starts last season and managed 10 goals 3 assists, Dessers has struggled to score regularly for quite a few years and with Lammers lack of goals it is concerning who we’ll rely on if these two aren’t contributing numbers. Heart and Hand saying that both could be a possibility so hopefully the Danilo deal isn’t off.

We got our moneys worth out kent n morelos n kept them too the end of their contract n yeah we didn't sell when we cuda but we got our moneys worth n more we lived a dream n europe, with their help

If dessers helps us too a few trophies then brillant n we might live a few more with dessers n new troops

We won 55 had a craking run to a European final hopfully its tides turning back blue guys.

@Ravers - Just because money wasn’t made for Kent or Morelos doesn’t mean Rangers should abandon their player trading model. Rangers should be buying players with a view to developing them and selling them on. The TV and prize money in Scottish football is pathetic. Winning the league has a prize money of about £3m, with £300k for a domestic cup win. The only way clubs like Rangers and Celtic can flourish is through player trading and regular participation in European football.

Rangers MUST turn a profit when it comes to player trading.

How can anyone on here say signings shouldn't be about sell on value? We play in a league with absolute dire TV/ prize money and we would need a latter run in Europe to make some cash profit.

Our club should be signing players with a good sell on chance. Bringing in a near 29 year old who may play 2/ 3 seasons for I'm guessing at least £5m is bad business! Where as a 24 year old for around the same value makes more sense. Now who knows who would perform better but we need to be buying younger.

Everyone saying we don’t need to worry about sell on value all the time. Yes we absolutely do. Our league is a two horse race with us being underdogs for long enough and underdogs right now. Only entering champions league makes up for not making a profit on our signings. Our club will implode if we don’t totally concentrate on signing players that can offer a profit when sold on.

Totally agree with verdant comment. Blue dreamers that’s a fair comment kent and Alfredo helped us to a title and a good run in Europe but they both left without any money coming into the club. There was a point they could have been sold and made us a profit and we would have still have won that league title and that run in Europe. Them two leaving our club for free could match what we made that year a couple years back. We must make money on players leaving or lose as little as possible.

@Broxy - If we want to consistently match Celtic on the pitch, we must also match them off it. Celtic are able to spend big during the windows on player assets and the teams that spend the most money generally enjoy the most success. Other than Patterson, Aribo, and Bassey, I struggle to think of great examples of player trading that Rangers have done during the last decade. This is something Rangers really need to work on.
