John, it looks like you were about Kosta Nedeljkovic and the possibility of us not taking up our option to buy. BBC reporting that he's not a regular starter for us and that foreign clubs want him. Good info👌.
01 Oct 2026 05:45:28
Far to early to say that, with Sterling's injury record , Nedeljkovic could be a key player for us this season yet!
01 Oct 2026 07:42:12
I think this is a bit of a misunderstanding. The BBC were repeating an article from Serbian outlet Mondo and things got lost in translation. The Serbian article advises Kosta is searching or finding himself (looking for consistency).
He's not been a regular starter as he's had a foot injury. Sterling's form will give McInnes a headache as to when to play Kosta also.
My view is he'll play his part this season.
01 Oct 2026 08:51:37
Seasons only just started. Impossible to say. he's starting for his national side and a very good player. But Sterling has been class.
01 Oct 2026 09:00:27
As I've said the boy meeds mins to be judged for the benefit of the future due to Sterlings injury history.
He may or may not be good enough to be out rb for next 5 years.
We won't know unless we give him mins.
01 Oct 2026 09:54:10
Yeah you could be right Laudrup. I saw the article last night and remembered that John had mentioned that he thought that we might not take up the option to buy.
01 Oct 2026 09:56:32
Del time will tell, personally I'm not buying a player with a worse injury history than Sterling over 200 days missed in three years.
01 Oct 2026 10:26:14
I tend to agree John. I think at this point I would be content with Sterling and McCrorie. I don't think there is justification to spend £4m on a player who would be back up. Who's the young lad we have out on loan that's a rb and what's the future plan for him John?
01 Oct 2026 10:44:02
Hutton is an exceptional prospect.
01 Oct 2026 10:56:10
That's the good side of these loans to buy. Got time to check him out 1st. Plenty of time yet for him to impress as well but missing out on Europe will limit chances. Never thought Sterling would be nailing down the slot. Also means Hutton can go out and get regular football rather than sitting in reserve.
01 Oct 2026 11:07:49
Del gets it content with McCrorie come on be serious.
01 Oct 2026 11:17:50
Ajd123 why? What's wrong with Sterling as first choice and McCrorie as back up?
Thanks John, do you think with Sterling, McCrorie and Hutton, we are well covered at RB?
01 Oct 2026 11:22:40
Cause he's not good enough got to be surely aiming far higher.
01 Oct 2026 11:37:04
He's not good enough to be back up? Come on be serious. I don't agree Ajd123 but each to their own.
01 Oct 2026 11:39:33
John Sterling has missed 251 days for us in the last 2 years and was out for 71 before joining us. Sterling has been inform and been fit but I still wouldn't be depending on him especially with how he plays. Kosta and McCrorie, (who I'm not a fan of tbh and is CB cover too) deserve time to play as does Rommens when he's back.
We might not have Europe but we have actual depth for a change, should use it and rotate players to rest. Sterling is 27 next and McCrorie is 28, we need a younger RB or 2.
01 Oct 2026 11:56:23
Hes not good enough to be a Rangers player full stop.
01 Oct 2026 12:31:37
Far too early to be judging Nedeljkovic .If the club were already leaning towards not signing him it would make me wonder why we signed him in the first place . He's obviously had that foot injury which is why he's not been involved but there is plenty of the season still to go for him to prove his worth .The boy is only 20 and is already an international footballer so he is talented .
I'm sorry to say that I don't see Hutton making it here , he's 20 has hardly had a sniff of first team football and is being loaned out to a club in the third tier of Scottish football , doesn't bode well for his future at Rangers.
01 Oct 2026 12:50:14
I believe Kosta will prove to be a good addition and certainly has the talent to be signed long term.
I hope like Sterling, he can get over his injuries.
01 Oct 2026 13:02:05
That article was weeks old, yes Nedeljkovic has missed around 180 days through injury in his career so far, couple of knee injuries, back injury, but remember his lad is only 20 years old.
01 Oct 2026 13:06:15
Hundred percent wslgers, Nedeljkovic hasn't had many chances, if we're thinking about ending his loan why even take him on loan, Nedeljkovic will get chances throughout the season.
01 Oct 2026 13:26:07
Sterling cannot be relied upon for a season if we have European football.
The past is the best indicator of the future is a great saying.
McCrorie is an able deputy for a ln always fully fit and available right back, Sterling isn't that lads as much as I wish he was.
Sterling for me should be kept as back up with a better rb signed, or McCrorie as back up and Sterling let go for someone who will be fit and availible for a full European season.
What's the point in signing Kosta if he's not to be gave a chance?
Tbf , I didn't know his injury record was so poor as well so I'd be reluctant in going into a season with je and Sterling for example.
01 Oct 2026 13:53:21
Steve, back problem could be age related, mate, had a couple of knee injuries, but remember this lad is only 20 years old, hopefully he kicks on after his injuries.
01 Oct 2026 14:23:51
It's less than a 1/4 into the season how can anyone say whether we will sign him or not.
01 Oct 2026 14:30:13
That's it lads, the seasons early and all players will get a chance through suspensions or injury. It's about grabbing that chance when it comes.
01 Oct 2026 14:49:00
It's an obligation anyway, if he plays x amount of games he'll be signing.
01 Oct 2026 16:42:27
Twisted, u have hit it on the head, if he plays x amount off games , I understand that figure is between 60% and 70%.
So far he has been played in 4 out of 15 games therefore around 25% off games. Long way to go to reach the alleged target that triggers the obligation.
Who do we want in all seriousness Sterling doing what he does now and staying fit or Kosta.
Many say Kosta not fit but why is he playing international football.
01 Oct 2026 19:01:21
John i agree with you in terms of Sterling current form but I feel you are being quite unfair in your framing.
I personally believe Kosta to have a far higher ceiling therefore long term could prove a more fruitful and prudent signing.
Sterling is in amazing form but be in no doubt that if as expected he spends more time out injured the framing of that question will change again.
02 Oct 2026 08:13:15
About this time last season fans were talking of sending Mikey Moore back , and look how that turned out , let's sit back and enjoy the football sell has us playing right now , and talk about players to stay or go near the end of the season.
02 Oct 2026 08:19:29
NATO not one single post I've made questions his ability to, my concert is his availability and level off fitness. I very much like his play
Do we want another helander Jack roofe, where our most used phrase is, if fit he's the first name on the team sheet.
02 Oct 2026 09:36:18
I completely understand that John and at no point have i made reference to you doubting his ability.
What I said was unfair framing.
Sterling is going through his first settled period of his career so far but he remains a high risk concern.
My question is would you rather have a high risk Sterling who will remain high risk his entire career.
Or would you rather a young boy with an exceptional ceiling who could have injuries relating to growth.
Last Season people were writing off Ryan Naderi as an injury prone waste of money.
That is not ageing well.
I feel that it is all too easy to be blinkered by form and write off young guys who need to get used to the physicality of our league.
02 Oct 2026 13:20:49
Nato, you're on the button plenty folk done it with Naderi too, and also Mikey Moore as inverger has said.
Let’s enjoy what we are now and celebrate nice grate on getting that top spot and winning that first cup, the rest will fall into place one way or the other.
I’m very reluctant to give sterling my full trust due to his usual problems.
02 Oct 2026 13:22:02
Good post NATO.
02 Oct 2026 13:41:22
Should read *Nato you're on the button*.
02 Oct 2026 14:11:09
Thanks guys, finally we are in a position where we can integrate players properly into our team.
02 Oct 2026 17:19:11
NATO, I know u did not others have , i'd have Sterling if fit, we don't know if injuries are related to growth, that is some one's guesswork.
As I've said in other posts we shop in all markets to build a jigsaw, which is taken shape.
If we progress it's simple, Sterling unlikely to stay.
