I'm led to believe we're back in for Casper Widdell and hold an interest in Bengeduz Bolla of Rapid Vienna.

03 Aug 2026 11:27:25
I'm sure Bola played against us for Servette? Wing back?

03 Aug 2026 12:02:48
Sack the football recruitment dept. At this rate, we will be in the wilderness so long we will be sponsored by Bear Grylls. No main issues from last season have been addressed after 7 signings? Incredible or incredulous!

03 Aug 2026 12:11:13
Quite concerned, we seem to be scrambling about trying to find players rather than having any recruitment strategy, leftovers anyone.

03 Aug 2026 12:16:06
I agree, the recruitment department doesn't seem to be doing a very good job.

03 Aug 2026 12:30:36
Nododo, I don't see any scrambling around for players. The recruitment team will have a list of players for every position we need. Not only do Rangers not get 1/2/3 choice. We'll struggle getting many players interested in coming to Scotland.
Players getting linked from journalists or others that don't even have a clue if Rangers are interested. You must be going on hearsay.

03 Aug 2026 12:50:33
Agree, my star. We finished 3rd in Scotland, what's the big draw. Not even guaranteed European group football. Year after year, we have regressed and it will take its toll on attracting players.

03 Aug 2026 12:54:10
My Star, this page is hearsay, mate. But often, many what people say is taken as from being in a position of "in the know", and those outside it talk nonsense are wrong. You're most likely right thou.

I think the vast majority of journalists don't have a clue until it's broken terms are agreed, and I'd say the same for those on here who claim to know a lot.

03 Aug 2026 12:59:25
Well, whether the rumours are true or not, it's hard to deny that we haven't addressed last season's issues. We lost 4 loanee defenders during the summer, plus Tav, and we have signed 3 replacements, two of whom are not good enough and the other a complete unknown. We have gone mad signing central midfielders to add to what we already had, but not addressed the problems of creativity on both wings. I won't mention a No 10 in midfield because I believe that McInnes has no intention of playing with one, hence why no interest in Dahl.

Why have we nobody who can play on the right wing for the season starting? Why has one defensive injury caused a crisis in that area? I'm no fan of Souttar, but what has he done to be frozen out of pre season matches? Danilo, Bajrami and Antman were all involved, and they have been sold, so it can't be that. Something is not right on the recruitment side of the club.

03 Aug 2026 13:04:04
Mystar, if they've a list of players for every position, why have we not strengthened key areas.
We've signed Mcrorie (who has links to Rangers/Scotland) so anyone could have made that deal happen.
Shankland and Devlin both free agents from the league.
Godfrey a loan deal from England where the contact between club (Purdy) and agents will have been straightforward.
Neil, again, will have been known to Purdy and the club.
I'll give them some credit for Pandur Dragojevic and Makhanya, obviously they've done homework and scouted them.

Bit the truth is we're crying out for full backs and wingers and we've signed nobody.
Of the 3 central midfielders we've signed none of them are even proven to be the playmaker that we've been missing for years either.

Stig was talked up as having great knowledge of Scandinavian market, so far we've failed to finalise anyone from there.

03 Aug 2026 13:13:53
We aren't the club we once were tbh.

It's mortifying seeing how far we have fallen since 55 and the Europa final we should have pushed on at that moment, but we regressed, and we are regressing even further over the last couple of seasons.

90% of the signings we make are panic buys because choice 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 told us they have better offers in the Saudi lower leagues or English lower leagues. Brian Laudrup once chose Rangers over Barcelona, now we aren't getting chosen over Blackpool.

We can't get players out the door who have interest because the owners are valuing people at crazy prices.

For a team who finishes third in the Scottish Premier, the most a team could hope for is about 15m; even that seems steep for the team 3rd in our league.

I'm predicting some very difficult times over the next season, but I fully believe, if McInnes is allowed a few windows, and if the new owners do not get their fingers out in terms of getting players in and out in time for qualifiers for Europe, we are always going to struggle if we are drastically short in certain positions like we are atm. It's time AC flexed his muscles and got the manager the players he badly needs.

03 Aug 2026 13:28:27
That is meant to say, if McInnes is allowed a few windows, he will get it right.***

03 Aug 2026 13:29:37
Recruitment has been absolutely awful. That includes last year and the January window. Not one player that's been brought in has been good on a consistent basis.

03 Aug 2026 13:53:51
It's actually dire.

N, I hate saying it, but we are so far behind that manky mob.

Our team's way weaker than last season.
We couldn't even beat bloody Dundee.

Fact, they could've beat us.

No desire from some.
N, we were lacklustre to say the least.

N, to be brutal, it looks hopeless unless we get the right signings in quickly.

Cause, currently as it looks, we ain't no where near good enough.

03 Aug 2026 15:12:59
Blue dreamer last season Bajrami scored a 94th min pen at Tannadice to equalize also. We also drew 2 all with them at Ibrox. They beat Celtic at Tannadice last season as well. Yes we played bad, but you're talking like they're Elgin City.

03 Aug 2026 15:11:46
Is the rumours on Godfrey being out long term correct.
Has anyone seen or heard anything?

03 Aug 2026 14:03:11
God help us. Even the rumoured names coming out are getting worse and worse.

When can we be a serious club again? Squad filled with squad players.

03 Aug 2026 14:19:36
Bluedreamer, I don't see this. As far behind them now, definitely inroads have been made. We have many players worth good fees now. We know it's going with transfermaker, but that's the best out there, and our squad is the most valuable in our league.

I don't believe that has ever happened before.

And we could have beaten United as well, who has played more competitive games, twice as many shots on target, twice as many shots off target, twice as many shots blocked. United keeper made saves. Pandur made 2 saves.

03 Aug 2026 14:26:07
There's the argument that we aren't the same club we were once and can't attract the same calibre of players we used to, however, when you look across the city, they've spent big on Duran and the boy from Bodo, both of whom will score plenty this season. The recruitment dept, for me, has been dire and was obsessed with positions which weren't a priority.

03 Aug 2026 14:41:43
Sir, but they also lost a massive player in Maeda.

03 Aug 2026 14:41:49
My star, it's the same old story season after season, don't win our first game.

Slowly drop points.
Chasing already.

Signing injured players.
Loans we can never keep.

We look lacklustre.

Same as last season.

N yeah I get first game.
But it was still Dundee.

We should be putting these teams to bed.

N unless we make drastic improvements in certain areas, second spot we will be lucky to get as they have made a couple of decent signings.

We have no creativity.
N no desire to go on and win a game.

Looked like some players settled for a draw.

03 Aug 2026 14:44:54
The recruitment team are the same team that brought you last season's players.

I think most fans were prepared to give them a chance this summer and were relatively positive about the new share issue, etc., but it's not looking good all of a sudden.

We can't even sell Raskin for some strange reason (I accept that may not be their fault, but they don't seem to be able to market him properly).

I know I'm being negative, but I'm not seeing any positives from the recruitment drive.

Any rumours seem to be us shopping in the bargain basement again and have lowered our sights. It really does beg the question as to what the position is financially. It looks as if there was an assumption that Raskin would go straight after the World Cup and that would unlock further signings, and as things stand, it is all quiet on that front. Here is hoping that there are more outgoings this week that may help us bring some in wingers/defenders.

03 Aug 2026 14:49:09
Blue, that's why I said give my opinion on this window in a month's time, mate, a couple of quality wide players, rb, cb, it's a different story. I'd be happy with that and a lb.

03 Aug 2026 14:59:38
I totally agree with Muscatin. What I also believe is that the answer to the midfield battle is big Vanja. You don't get captaincy of Partizan if you're a weak player. He's a bull. I think the issue is obvious, we need more than one season to build.

Gerrard did too. Like another poster said, Rangers don't have that pull anymore nor Celtic. European football or not. Players are moving to Hulls, Saudi teams, lower league England etc. Modern football = money talks, I'm afraid.

03 Aug 2026 15:04:04
Can see 8 leaving, 6 signed before the window shuts. I don't think that will be far away.
Raskin, Barron, Souttar, McCausland, Cameron, Bajrami, Miovski sold, possibly Curtis loaned out.
Rb, Lb, 2 Cb's, 2 Rw's. Signed.

03 Aug 2026 15:46:24
My star, I'd add a left winger to your list to players we need to sign mate. 🤔🇬🇧

03 Aug 2026 15:58:29
The issue we face on top of all this is sadly the fan base, it's really toxic and, you know what, I hold my hands up, sometimes I can be guilty of it too. We label players crap and duds after a couple of bits of poor run of form, etc., and it just cripples their mentality and then people give it the old agh 20 grand a week. They shouldn't suffer from mental health problems, etc., it's simply not how it works.

The other main issue, I believe, is people talk - players talk. When people hear of what our reception can be it's probably not selling it to anybody currently. Look at this comment section, people have never seen either of these guys play and they're going mental (apart from Bollo twice).

03 Aug 2026 16:03:20
I understand we/Scotland is not a big draw for certain players, we just need to hope the recruitment/scouting department do their jobs and can unearth a few gems like we did with Morelos and Igamane. 🤞🏻

03 Aug 2026 16:09:11
Sam. 👏👏👏👏

03 Aug 2026 16:13:09
I think a lot of targets and work would have been done with Rohl, but then McInnes is wanting different profiles/styles of players, so they're back to square one with targets. There were rumours on this site that McInnes said no to 3 signings we had lined up.

03 Aug 2026 16:50:28
Couldn't agree more, Sam.

03 Aug 2026 17:21:08
The trouble is we don't need to label players duds after a couple of games. We, unlike the recruitment team, can spot that they are going to be duds before they play. Anybody who watches a bit of English football knew that the likes of Aarons, Godfrey, McCrorie and others were duds. Sheffield Wed fans told us that Gassama had no end product. Peterborough fans laughed at us signing Fernandez, and watching him defend, we can see why.

If he's worth £20million to an English club, we should take it and let him fall asleep on their time, not ours. Chermiti is another one. We pay £10million for a guy who has hardly played in two years, Celtic pay £11million for a proven CL goalscorer. There's the difference. Our fans aren't toxic, they are just not stupid.

03 Aug 2026 17:51:43
Wsl and that's the issue right there. Do I agree with shopping in England? No but ok let's play your game mccorrie was highly rated in England he was valued at almost 8 million before an injury. Gassama was praised too the world by Wednesday fans was on fire to start here hit a rough patch and is now a whipping boy he's still a young man younger than Barron actually but not afforded the same time. Fernandez was a god on here till about 3 weeks ago oh and after a mistake Friday night that wasn't solely his fault nor was he the only one jogging back anyway we will still make tremendous profit on him regardless. Chermiti our first consistent striker in old firms in how long not too mention he's been top since January after regaining fitness again only 21 and we will make profit. Your being toxic right now it rubs off everywhere and it's been spoken of by many a player with clubs world wide. Man United are a prime example of it as are Basel ( - last season ) and anderletcht.

The fan base demanded a Scottish manager they got it and an identity something I don't agree on because winners will be winners but anyway the fan base demanded Scottish players and league players we've signed 3 and would've signed more if we hadn't been knocked back by multiple or being priced out but again the board have listened just like they listened to cry of sack this guy and that guy and don't do X Y and Z ( too many examples to go through ) the fanbase then complain when what they ask for is given. The board cannot win nor can this club we can't progress no one is given time even gerrad said that ( I'm not his biggest fan ) in an interview with Andy Halliday days ago - another who is criticised for his honest opinion on the state of our club. We aren't attractive, we aren't competitive and we more than likely aren't going to be anywhere near it in the near future then you take into consideration confrence football which is devastating for us and it is deny it or don't believe it, tell me we are Rangers it's only the league that matters and finances shouldn't be an issue - it's real life not fifa we all pay bills and have to live within our means and we know this. I could break down the whole issue of the fan base not getting behind the team, teams not fearing us ( been happening for the last few seasons ) ect but that's a conversation for another time

Anyway I must be stupid. Mind that cycle the Tim's post ever year a wonder how far along we are the now 😬

03 Aug 2026 20:45:42
A lot of our supporters are toxic, Sam, and I have stated this as I've witnessed it at games and on here, mate. 👎 They don't know what they want, and anyone knows surely that we can't rinse and repeat this, sacking managers willy nilly, as we'll never have stability and will never get anywhere. 🤔 McInnes has to be given a few windows to bring in his players to play this style, simple as that imo.

🤔 I honestly do think our CEO Jim Gillespie will give McInnes sufficient time, as he was the one that pushed hard to appoint Derek McInnes. 🤔 🇬🇧 Let's give our total backing to our club, our manager and our players, and support what we all signed up to do. 👍 🇬🇧
