Right, so going by previous posts, Rohl has wanted away for a while due to being homesick. Fair enough. Surely the club would have had wind of this and if Rangers get around 6.5m for him then it's a stroke of genius by Cavanagh coming out and publicly backing him. If he is in fact going the contingency plan needs put into place now before the players return for pre season. Otherwise, it could end up a shambles.

Gattuso anyone? ?

12 Jun 2026 11:04:03
Been a shambles for the last 15 years.

12 Jun 2026 11:07:47
With Gattuso, I think it's a little difficult as he's won nothing, but who are we actually going to get that's won anything? He's a lot of experience in fairness, but could he do a job at Rangers? He's certainly managed big clubs and absolutely massive players, so, am on the fence.

Gattuso is now at Lazio.

Had a very good chat with some people close to Rohl.

Whatever the outcome, family isn't a primary driver for the decision.

He and his family are comfortable with their situation, and even though Austria is closer to his home - his family wouldn't relocate and he has a very disciplined approach to how he coaches, so he wouldn't be travelling home much more than he does now.

Club bosses might feel he's out his depth again, O'Neill, after last season. Quite strange how Rohl is leaving when O'Neill is confirmed.

Just want it all over now. We undergo this shambolic merry-go-round of drama every season it seems. If it's not trips to Loch Lomond, it's managers and players falling out etc. We just need to be a settled club again, stability is key. Whoever the next manager is needs to be in it for 3 years minimum to create that consistency. Players will settle more and everything will be relaxed. This will hopefully enable harmony and team cohesion, which we are desperately crying out for.

Wouldn't mind if Rohl stayed to start building this stability, but I feel like he would be of interest to someone every year due to his rep in the RB group, so better parting ways and bringing in a respectable figurehead like them across the city. They may be a shambles in the boardroom, but Mon has stabilised them. We are crying out for this!

Behave, nothing to do with O'Neill signing.

12 Jun 2026 11:40:22
Stability would be McInness, as used to the Scottish game, knows the club and we need to get a solid foundation back.

Good young Scots should be added to squad, Graham, Milne, J Wilson along with good solid pros such as Mccrorie, Penricevand and a "marquee" type signing like Gilmour or Ferguson.

If we can afford to bid for expensive foreign players and can pay millions for guys like Diomande, Milovski, etc then we have funds that could be better spent.

Also need to seriously look at recruitment /scouting team, as quite a few signings have not been able to wear the jersey and lack character, mentality to win when it matters.

Letsdothis, What has this got to do with anything Celtic? Yes, they recently gave O'Neill another year, this says more about them, with not planning ahead, Rohl chooses to move on, fair enough, but has nothing to do with that lot.

12 Jun 2026 11:42:00
Jasper, did not know that! (Obviously ?). Knew there was talk of it, but didn't realise he now had the job.

12 Jun 2026 11:49:14
Positives must be taken from this situation - again like developing a young player and selling them on a coach is no different.

I have no issues with Rohl leaving, as fans, we have emotional attachment to the club, but this is professional life for Danny.

No different to how we treat career opportunities and progression.

He would leave with my best wishes.

I'd fully endorse McInnes, and for me he would be the most sensible option. We must stay away from the Parkers, Edwards etc down south.

12 Jun 2026 11:49:22
He was found out badly against O'Neill at the end of the season. I'm personally glad he's leaving because the end of the season was a disaster.

12 Jun 2026 11:54:51
Celtic giving him another contract says more about them, Letsdothis.

12 Jun 2026 11:59:52
Letsdothis, so RBS who are better run than RFC, obviously haven't a clue what they are doing, then wanting to take a chance on a novice.

12 Jun 2026 12:50:32
There must be something in this. If the clubs are talking, then Rohl's agents etc must have given RBS encouragement that he would be interested.

12 Jun 2026 13:13:10
I'm allowed my opinion, Gees. Just because RBS are after him doesn't mean he's going to be a success. He blew our title chances last season and that's what I'm going on. He was schooled by O'Neill in every game they played each other.

12 Jun 2026 13:28:40
Let's do this: We never had any title chance last season until Rohl came in and took charge of a squad who lacked direction, motivation and cohesion. We ran out of steam after the split. That was down to the players.

12 Jun 2026 13:36:23
Bobby, you believe what you want. Losing 4 cup finals is completely unacceptable.

12 Jun 2026 14:04:18
Rangers Review said today that Rohl is not instigating this. He does not want away. So, the idea that he has 'wanted away in a while' just doesn't seem true. EHL comments seem to support that. Rohl has been totally professional during his time with us.
