John or anyone can u confirm to me for a conversation with a freind that McInnes knocked us back after Pedro because our board wouldn't accept Docherty as his 2 and the reason why please?

12 May 2026 00:51:51
That's the reason, mate, he wanted him as his assistant, well, that was what I heard, Mciness can only be asked Stevie.

12 May 2026 02:49:43
Lol I thought I was hearing at the time his wife didn't want to move back to Glasgow and wanted to stay in Aberdeen.

12 May 2026 06:22:11
Stevie G, Derek McInnes, after first talks with King in December 2017, was taking the Rangers manager's job, mate, and the goalposts on the deal got slightly altered shall we say. ? Yes, King told McInnes that Rangers were only wanting him and not his assistant Docherty.

? After speaking to the late great Walter Smith, who he looked up to and adored, he then turned down the job and stayed with Aberdeen, as Walter also told him things at Rangers weren't quite right in the boardroom. ?

I could be completely wrong here, but Rohl doesn't look happy here and I think he's actively trying to get back to Germany.

Losing 3 in a row, and 2 games to go with nothing to play for, is obviously a rubbish situation to be in, and it's not all on Rohl.

But how do we go into the split as potential champions and lose 3 on the bounce?

For me, a change is needed, but as I've said in here multiple times I understand why folk want to keep him.

12 May 2026 07:37:30
Alex, who would you replace Rohl with, mate, if you don't mind me asking? ?

12 May 2026 07:58:36
Walter, in an ideal world, Muscat and give him the full summer for recruitment and pre season to get players adjusted and fitness up.

I honestly have never wanted Gerrard back.
Failing Muscat, I'd ask Del, but that is a long shot, he's got a job for life at Hearts if they win this title.

12 May 2026 08:05:07
Coops, do you think Rohl will be away at the end of the season?

12 May 2026 08:29:28
So what happens if we get Muscat and it fails in 6 months, sack him and try yet again with someone else. We can't keep doing this. Compensation to managers must be costing us an absolute fortune, and yes, it goes towards the costs associated with Financial Fair Play or whatever its called now.

For people to question Rohl (and I agree he isn't perfect) but again who would have guaranteed us to win the league with this team. If anyone says Gerrard would then you need a reality check.

12 May 2026 08:36:18
Baxterboy, I'm very confident that Danny Rohl won't be away at the end of the season, and that Andrew Cavanagh will give him time to bring his own signings in and build his own Rangers. I don't have any doubts on this, mate. ? How about you? ?

12 May 2026 08:38:06
We need to stick with a manager for a period of time as we've constantly tried the other stuff which ain't working. ? We need to be patient and create stability. ?

12 May 2026 08:42:57
Again, lads, that's fine if you think keeping him is the right. I understand and respect folks' opinions on.

Personally, I don't think it's going to work for him, but I hope I'm wrong if he stays.
I'd have no issues holding my hands up saying it.

12 May 2026 09:01:47
Coops, when you hear of other teams interested in Rohl from Germany, which may suit him better (family wise). Then throwing away any chance we had of winning the league. Plus the rumours regarding Gerrard.
I'm not so sure he will be here next season mate.

12 May 2026 09:15:30
Scales walks the ball from his 18 yard box into our half before anyone goes near him. We can't pass it out of our 18 yard box.

12 May 2026 09:47:26
Frank Lampard.

12 May 2026 09:47:51
Maybe it had been agreed that Rohl was away for family reasons even before the Hearts game, just by looking at his body language, there is no fire in his belly or has it never been there to start with?

12 May 2026 10:10:18
Sco11, to me it looks like the players have checked out completely and the manager looks similar.
They knew on Sunday it was near enough for nothing and played as such.
Thankfully a majority of this team will be gone in the summer.

I just hope the team behind recruitment does a better job, because last summer, signing so many guys on loan was a horrendous decision.

12 May 2026 10:55:16
I'm sure Walter told him not to take it, the time was not right. Could be wrong tho.

12 May 2026 12:38:23
You're spot on Rfc. ?

12 May 2026 13:08:16
You are saying that half the team will be away in the summer. I understand that loan players will go back to their parent clubs, but who in their right minds would buy the rest of the useless rubbish.

12 May 2026 14:24:37
Geeseadodithat, that made no sense. What if Muscat fails, what if Gerrard fails, what if Rohl fails. What I'd what if. We can't go on with that.
What if, example, Muscat was a success.

Up until the Motherwell game, I wanted to keep Rohl, but the jury is out now. I am still deliberating.

The players have a massive impact, yes. They can only control their desire, the energy, their will to impose in the team, but for me Rohl has had a few howlers.
Motherwell being the worst.
We were getting destroyed down the wings. Most people could spot that and he did nothing.

All of a sudden, 2-0. It was coming.
Slow to react to it. Had to wait.
My issues for the last few managers are the lack of learning. The lack of being brave.
Not including the other issues we have, ref effort, desire and leadership.
Rohl got points against poor teams, but once they started finding form it's a different story.

Would Muscat be better? I have no idea.
But he knows the club, fanbase and a track record of winning.
He could still be a disaster.

I am leaning towards wanting Rohl to leave.
