Shalke and Ajax both have deals on the table for Bailey rice. I hope the player takes one of them up their offers he's been wasted at Ibrox.

Holland would be good for him as well, Stevie, loads of positives in his game, but kinda lightweight, mate, that can be worked on. He should have stayed at Motherwell and he'd have far more experience right now.

Can remember being told he was better than Miller, Stevie. Injuries as well at Rangers haven't helped him. He could still have a good career, mate, hope he does.

Quite liked what I've seen when he's played, but that's been very few times. He can't be on the scrap heap, so needs a move, as it doesn't look like he'll get the chance with us, sadly.

It's all very well saying that youngsters never get a chance, but when they do, and he did, they have to show they deserve to stay, which he didn't. No doubt he has ability but never showed the work rate and the other side of the game.
Clement and Ferguson both wanted to give him a go but he just never did enough. Hopefully he will get his career going elsewhere but he can't say he didn't get a chance. Lowry actually showed more and he was another one who didn't put the effort in.

Rice is too good for the U19s, so his development has stagnated a little and he's not good enough for our first team yet - so he's stuck in limbo.
The development squad at Ajax or Schalke will give him an opportunity to kick on.
We are in talks with Schalke over a development partnership. Rohl was very keen for Curtis to go there in January.

I agree, EHL, caught in the development limbo. Should have gone out on a loan. And think high injury at wrong time killed his chances.

He should probably have been offered a year's extension at the start of the season and a chance to go on a year's loan if he signed it.

We should not be letting Bailey Rice leave on a free. He is just 19 and has so much more to come. He is our second youngest post-war player after Derek Ferguson, capped at every level for Scotland - including the under 21s when he was just 17 - and is still physically developing.
Schalke and Ajax want the boy for a reason. They see his potential and we seem to be blind to it.
