Filip Beckman is a young left footed central defender I think would be a good addition.

Predominantly plays left sided central defender in a back 3 but is equally adept at playing in a 2.

Think Casper widdell will be next CB we sign tbh just need Souttar gone.

If we do sign Casper Widdell Rangers56.1, i think he'd be a squad player mate because he is not shifting makhanya or Fernandez under derek McInnes for me and correctly so 🤔🇬🇧.

How do you know that sir Walter? If their form dips, like 1 month ago for Fernandez then he'll correctly be removed with another player taken his place and rightly so.

Players are only as good as their last game and every player in the squad needs to perform week in or week out otherwise there are excellent players chapping at the bit to get into the first team.

If we keep both mak and manny next season then I don't think Godfrey will sign.

Thus giving us the need for 2 new players.

I too think widdel will be coming in January though.

Having both Fernandez and Makhanya is top class recruitment, that is some partnership for a club in this league.

Beale don't forget penrice in this, for me he's Scotlands best left back now and it's a travesty he's not in the squad never mind the 11.

Robbo was in the top 2/3 left backs in the world for many years but he's on the wane and isn't same player now.

Tierney is a quality player too but again on the wane and can't play a full 90.

Penrice is a class act for me.

Feel Fernandez would benefit from some competition to sharpen his focus a bit as still has the tendency to switch off.

Not fancied big Chris Smalling all Summer. See he's just signed for Porto.

26 y.o. and signs for favourites to win a Portuguese leaving yet some say he couldn't cut it at Rangers, lol.

Stevie G, i totally agree with you regarding James Penrice, pal. 👍 Have been saying this on here since he was at Livingston, that Rangers should sign him as he's a quality left back and for me our no.1 left back.

03 Oct 2026 08:37:10
He's 36 not 26, Stevie.
But I agree he could have been a decent signing on a free for a year.

03 Oct 2026 09:09:23
He knows he's 36 Bee, typo mate.

Interesting change in narrative around Wendell.

When he was first mentioned we were very much in our 'sack the full football operations' phase and he was being slated by the majority due to some YouTube clip of him failing to clear the box with a header.

Now we're in our 'oh wait, maybe our recruitment team aren't incompetent' phase the negativity around Wendell has vanished.

36 years old sign on fee and wages would be massive and would you not play and stop the development of many or Makhanya as he's would not come to sit on the bench at Rangers not he's not good enough just not a player we need at this time.

03 Oct 2026 12:01:45
Rfc that's a fair assessment mate I couldn't argue against what u say .

When I really wanted smalling we hadnt signed Makhanya yet and manny wasn't convincing us.

I would say this. Smalling beside makhanya would be outstanding central defence for a couple years especially in Europe next year.

Yeah guys meant 36, I seem to have a lot of typos guys so apologies for that it must be frustrating sometimes.

EHL that reaction is almost guaranteed unfortunately.

I for one have always been impressed by Widell and hope he is one we do sign.

03 Oct 2026 17:27:12
EHL I've always thought recruitment was very reactive but in the last wee while with all the incoming players saying that there was interest 6 months to a year previous it suggests to me now it's not. Or maybe that's always been the case not sure.
Always had the thought that we are unique. players that come in could look amazing at other clubs and fail.

My issue previously was stability too much continuous change never makes a winning team.
We now need depth to replace players potentially leaving for money or dropping off form. Casper widdell will be that rough round the edges but a replacement all the same.

Rangers, with the exception of Martin's window, its very structured and detailed.

Crucially the recruitment team and process grows and evolves with consistent application.

With the data driven approach, we learn more from signings who don't settle than we do from those who do.

Equally those involved in the process grow and develop a better understanding of the various tools.

As good as this window has been, we should be better next time round.
