Manager has basically confirmed Souttar is done at Rangers. They were hoping he'd be sold but now need to work out what the plan is. Said he won't be playing again, though, and he hopes he can give more details on the situation next week

Seen what he's said now:
"John was in that situation where there was a lot of things going on for him," said McInnes.
"It was kind of made clear that it would maybe be the best option for John to maybe look for something.
"Now that that's not materialised for him or the club, we just need to address that and see what's the best way forward.
"I've got my own views on that."
Don't see confirmation that he's done from the manager now that I've seen it.
He may well be, guess we'll know when we know as EHL alluded to.

I thought McInnes looked really uncomfortable at this question and danced around answering it. At no point did he say that Souttar was done, although I felt as if there might be discussions going on above McInnes' level.
I've said before Souttar must have done something really shocking to be treated like this. Even a guy like McCausland, who has been way out in the cold, has been on the bench and got on against St Mirren. It's all very strange.

He said that he hasn't written him off in an interview with Rangers Review. That it was suggested, with all the things JS had going on, it might be better for him to move, but now that this didn't materialise, they will now see what's the best way forward. So he hasn't said he won't play again.

Can see a "mutual agreement" being met here, and pay-off for Souttar with another nice contract elsewhere.

Fork, I never even knew what McInnes had said, but read that post and thought no way has he said that surely? Thanks for clearing that up, guys, shows where crazy rumours start.

McInnes never said Souttar wouldn't play again, said he had his own thoughts, and we will hear more about Souttar at the start of next week. I've a feeling Souttar's contract will be torn up and him a free agent.
