Just a wee post off topic. I know that most of us hate the international breaks. Which got me thinking wouldn't it be a good idea to give Tav a testimonal when the next international break happens. Allow Tav to say a proper goodbye. Yes maybe the last couple of seasons he wasn't maybe the Tav of old, but he did provide us with some wonderful memories and was mostly always available.
Imho the way he was treated at the end wasn't the Rangers way. Regardless of relationship breakdowns ect. Rangers should be bigger than that.

Tavernier had his chance to say goodbye but decided against it. His era is over, time to move on. Also, I don't get the fans who want him back signed this season. Currently, he's unemployed weeks after the seasons have started back for most leagues, and although no other team in the whole world wants him, people think he should get to play for Rangers again.

Gal, and also without a club are Jadon Sancho; Diego Liete (who some want us to sign); Zinchenko, Gortetzka, Ceballos; Icardi; Alaba and many more top players. So how many of those would you take as no other team in the world have wanted them until now.

I would rather we continue to focus on getting our current squad settled and winning. Tav was very well paid for his time with us. I wish him well going forward, but we need to forget about him.

Testimonials for highly paid footballers are nonsense, unless there is some mitigating factor such as a career-ending injury/illness or to benefit a charity. Move on.

I think we forget that testimonial money mostly goes to charities nowadays, as the players are very well paid. I cannot believe the club hasn't pencilled in a testimonial for Tav as of yet. I, for one, would 100% be there, as I respect and don't forget what he done for our club.

He had a massive send off and presentation organised for him, but he walked out on the team. He was offered everything he could have wanted apart from being asked to start on the bench. Why should we organise another for him?

James Tavernier was an excellent servant to the club - well paid in current Rangers terms, but not in global terms. He repaid his transfer fee over and over again and would have lifted more trophies if others around him had a similar professional outlook. There are not many supporters of other clubs who didn't rate him. Most of the criticism is from our own. To be fair, we do have a habit of criticising our own players without considering context. My opinion was that he was treated very badly at the end and can fully understand why he was upset.
I also think that situation hastened Rohl's departure. I don't think it would be the best idea to have him return - unless in a player/coach capacity. Unfortunately, the circumstances of his departure means it will be unlikely that a deserved testimonial will be given unless he does come back in some capacity. I believe he has a number of options for this season - several of which will give him a pay rise compared to his Rangers salary.

I wasn't happy how the Tav situation was handled. People paid big bucks to manage people. However, he's gone. No point resurrecting it all again.

Testimonials should be for those who are retiring or retired imo. The international break should be an opportunity to get fitness levels up, gel better, go over tactics & such, not to do testimonials. He wasn't treated the Rangers way, but he didn't act like in the Rangers way either, definitely not like a captain should.
Rohl was 100% right not to start him as he was injured & probably still is. Rohl's job was on the line.

Angus, most of the players you have mentioned are mostly 200-300 thousand a week wages so at Rangers, you wouldn't be taking any of them at all. There are most definitely many top players without a club at the moment, but I'd imagine wages being a sticking point when you're talking about multi million pound salaries.
But my point is that James Tavernier has no club this summer because he has not a lot left to give at the level he believes he's at.

That's a total lack of respect to the club no matter what he or anyone else thought about the incident with Rohl.
