OK, so who is looking forward to our first home game today? More to the point, who's confident of a win?
Tough game today? Infact, we have 3 very tricky games coming up, that in this crazy merry-go-round of managers, could make, or break, McInness.
Hibs, we know, will be right up for this, and looked good in their first match of the season. Then onto Europe, which we all know could go anyway. And after that, we take on an on form St Mirren in the LC. Talk about a test!
All winnable games, but the way we are playing, who knows?! If McInness kicks off with a win today then let's hope it's the start of something good. However, if it all goes horribly wrong, and these 3 tricky games bite us on the backside, we all know the knives will be out, and getting sharper. Welcome to Glasgow Rangers, eh?!

I'm not sure of the result. I always look forward to games regardless of how we are playing.
If we win nothing this season, I would still stick with McInnes. The constant managerial change helps nothing and no one. It takes time to build something.
Keep faith, and the constant huge amounts of players we need to sign when the new manager doesn't like the old player will stop. Then we can spend more money on individual players to improve quality.
Here's hoping for a better performance today.

I think we will get the win, 2-1 maybe. But it won't be pretty.
Brings on the debate of winning ugly or playing with an identifiable style. Winning ugly doesn't last forever, but by God I'd take that today and over the next few weeks.
Let DM settle into being Rangers manager. Agree with a lot of posts about sticking with DM this season and next season. We need stability.

If we all listened to you and your opinion then we would have stuck with RM and probably been in the bottom 6, these games that SS refers to are what defines if DM has what it takes to be Rangers manager!
He will find a way to win these games! Or he will be gone by christmas.

Been saying it forever that we need to stick with a manager & allow them to build some, but McInnes needs to show us something to get that time. His tactics have been wrong in the first 2 matches, we are worse than less year as our defence is awful & we have nothing going forward. I don't think he's the right person, but more worried if he goes, the next will be the usual suspects.
We have to win today or it will start to go against him, not by me but those at the games who boo & demand sackings.
We can't have the same start as Martin & so far he's matching it.
I'll say 1-1 Aasagaard penalty, not good enough at the back as Sterling, McCrorie & Fernandez (wonder if he misses Djiga) are woeful, so will concede but hope Mak starts & we have nothing going forward unless McInnes actually starts with 2 wingers & allows the midfield forward instead of sitting deep.

Bigbluejim, nonsense. I wanted Martin out at least six weeks before his sacking. He was different, we knew he wasn't going to work. Bigbluejim, the tossers that are wanting managers sacked without getting long enough, or players not enough after a couple of games. Rangers' biggest problem is they're tossers.

You wanted RM keeping and pleaded alongside Angus that he needed time, and even after we got battered by Brugge 9-1, when many of us said he had to go, you still said he needed time. With managers, I feel it's easier to judge earlier if they have what it takes, especially a "Rangers man" - no adjustment period required as he "gets it".
Line ups, tactics, style of play, subs and press conferences.
They're tossers because they want a winning team? Listen Star, unfortunately it's the nature of the beast in modern football with all these analysts, social media and fan forums where we are all experts. Managers at most clubs don't get time like they used to, and that doesn't just include here at Rangers!

Bigbluejim, I knew when Martin's time was up, mate. Yes I wanted him remaining longer than most, but after the St Mirren I knew he needed to be shown the door. Again, a minimum of 6 weeks before he was sacked. He wasn't in charge for 80 days then. Managers need patience unless, like him, we know it wouldn't work. I'm still pished off. A man talking us to the Champions League for the first time in a very long time, a European final and won the Scottish Cup was shown the door just after a year.
A man that had a squad riddled with injuries. Same situation with Clement, a man doing jobs he didn't sign up for. If they got the patience I'm talking about, we wouldn't be in this situation just now. Clement had the funds available, like we did the last few windows, we'd be in a far stronger position right now.

No point thinking about those, Star, as that was a different regime. The issue with Gvb, he was class in Europe but terrible at finding ways to win in the league. I do feel Clement, with the backing of these owners, would have done a much better job but just wrong time unfortunately, but we move on.
I'm unsure on dm, but with how bad our recruitment has been, I won't be making any judgements until he has a team he wants. My biggest concern is that we will be the opposite of Gvb, good in the league and terrible in Europe.

Walter Smith played ugly for years. Nobody cared though when it was winning. Nobody will care again if it wins. Arsenal were boring to watch last year compared to the 2 previous years and won the league.
Do you think any of them care now? Nope.
West Ham under Moyes finished in the top 8 a few times and won a European trophy. Was it pretty? Nope! But it was effective. Look at us now.

Bigbluejim, just when I start thinking about it, is still annoying.
Trophies in Scotland would do me right now. I won't even judge our squad until the window shuts. Quality, rw, lw, cb, rb cover for lb would do me and our squad will be in a far better place.
Patience also needs showed to players just signed. Enjoy the game today, mate. Will be another toughie. Hopefully, with more game time our players start stepping up more.

Yep, and look at what happened to West Ham after he left Iron. They wanted pretty football and got relegated.
Star, let's hope our recruitment team nail the last few weeks of the window then, as I feel we still need those positions you mentioned, and depending on sales I would also add an attack minded CM who will attempt runs in behind after a nice wee one two.

Not sure why I got dragged into this but, so you know, I wasn't defending Russell Martin specifically. My argument has always been that managers need time. With Martin, I wanted to actually see whether the style he was trying to implement could work and said that at the time. The problem was that our players seemed incapable of carrying it out on match day, so we never really got to see it properly. McInnes has talked about similar issues with players not doing what is asked of them.
I'm not McInnes' biggest fan either, but I'll make exactly the same argument for him. How many managers have we forced the board to sack after a bad spell, only to change the squad again and end up no better off?
We've been doing this for years: new manager, new players, new system, 9-12 months later start again. Then we wonder why nobody builds anything.
The frustrating thing is that fans can simultaneously say "the squad isn't good enough" while demanding the manager must win immediately. Which is it? If the squad needs improving, surely the manager needs time to actually do that.
I also think there's a recurring issue with players looking excellent in training but not producing it on match day. Clement said exactly that, and plenty of fans agreed with him at the time; yet still wanted him gone.
So what exactly are we expecting the next manager to do differently?
Yes, I want us to win today. But I'd rather McInnes pick the team he believes will win and build towards something longer term than constantly changing everything because of one or two bad results.
I'm not saying McInnes will definitely succeed. I'm saying we need to actually give a manager the opportunity to find out.
Because if we keep sacking managers and rebuilding squads every time we hit a poor spell, no manager is ever going to get the time needed to build anything. And that's a big part of how we've ended up where we are. So don't agree with the way Star said it but agree with the principles behind it and we won't be the only 2; just that the loud minority are always the ones you hear the most.
