Cammy Devlin.
"Superstar" performer last season.
Brought in to do the dirty work in the midfield.
Last night against Dundee Utd, he only won 4 out of 11 ground duels.
The much maligned Diomande won more - 4 out of 7.

Devlin is a squad player and shouldn't have started. Shankland shouldn't be captain but there is no one else. Again, only felt he was a squad filler. Dio, Sterling and Gassama won't suddenly improve. Manny is an average player suited to a different type of football.

1st game of the season.
Let's give new players time.
The players who were already here and failed last year. I see nothing different last night.
The club is failing the fans by not addressing the main problems we have know about for years.
No wingers, not enough creativity in midfield, and not enough goal threat upfront.

I have a feeling a couple of players were in the starting 11 for shop window purposes in the hope they would still get the points, Diomande being one, and possibly Naderi and Gassama.

Clearly last night was frustrating, not just for the result, but obviously because we were forced to play certain players out of position. DM is not daft, and neither he nor the board are unaware of the squad imbalances.
However, we have to be realistic.
A. It does take time to gel new players and a new style.
B. We cannot simply sign every targeted player (that's including those that choose to come).
C. We do have to move players along, and often the speed of this is out with our control.
D. With the window still open for 4 weeks, our chances of recruiting the 'marquee' or 'Game Changer' may not actually be available until Top 5 league squads are set and we see who is there to be signed.
1pt not as good as 3, and no doubt everyone at the club understands we need to improve rapidly on the park, but not sure fan hysteria is going to help today. Granted, if this is the situation by window's end, then yes, I can fully understand grumbles.

Think we witnessed what most of us predicted from Devlin last night.
When asked to work with the ball, he was poor, when asked to work off the ball, he was good.

He was a decent signing on a free for me, but he shouldn't be a starter for us.
