Perhaps one for those a bit more involved in coaching etc
Why do players cover their mouths now when talking to each other?
Should the red card punishment be extended to all instances?

I'm not involved in coaching but I think it's a ridiculous rule that somebody can get sent off for that. Yes, they shouldn't be verbally abusing opponents, but this just seems a ridiculous length to go.

Goram, players are advised nowadays to protect themselves.
Trends across social media using AI to spread misinformation and fake news means that clips of players communicating can be doctored, and once this happens it more often than not becomes the 'truth' and it can severely damage a player and their clubs' brand.

Crazy rule imo.

Thanks, EHL, appreciate your input here.

Not completely a fan of the rule but I can see why it's been brought in.
Any form of abuse should not be tolerated, and seeing players cover their mouth and then argue with another player is really not a good look.

I am totally for it. Just shouldn't be covering your mouth, send them all off.

End up getting sent off for sneezing. ?

Comes after the Real vs Benfica game, where a Benfica player covered his mouth. Only a red card if confrontational, as Bellingham wasn't red carded last night for it. If it had been in place for Kamara's, then the player would have been sent right off.

Didn't Pele do a campaign many years ago to raise awareness on ED?
