John, with Derek McInnes' arrival due any day now - I was wondering who at the club is making this decision?
I thought Stig might have had some influence over the appointment and so was a little surprised we've went for someone close to home.
I presume Andrew Cavanagh himself had actioned this one?

Zikos, I'm told from a previous Rangers employee of many years who's now retired that it was our new recently appointed CEO Jim Gillespie who pushed massively for Derek McInnes mate, as he's always rated him and wants Rangers to have a spine and identify of personnel who know the expectations of our club, what is required and can handle it.
? ?? Gillespie wanted nobody else but McInnes. ?

So when it goes as wrong as I feel, if Jim Gillespie has pushed so hard for this, does he fall on his sword?

Or, when it does go right, as I feel it will, does he get a pay rise? ?

Geezo, Ajd.

How many managers in the businesses resign if an employee they sign doesn't work out right. Hiring a manager is only one of the many things which Gillespie will have to do.
Ajd, when you were employed, did your manager have to fall on his sword 3 months later. ??

I'm with you, WishyBear. ? I think it's a very good appointment as Derek McInnes is exactly what our club needs at this particular time, and I do think he'll be a success. ? ??

Zikos, my clear understanding was Gillespie and Thornton drew up short list, carried out interviews. Gerrard was not on list. Parker and Averladze were interviewed in London before cup final.
I have no idea when McInness joined the list. Cavanagh made the executive decision to appoint.
Rangers were active before the season ended.

By making money from Rohl going and McInnes coming in, it's a very smart decision. I had doubts, but now I'm all for it re McInnes having listened to and read the opinions of smart people in the game.

Sir Walter, having a Rangers core doesn't mean rubbish, we've had many a Rangers men join us since our return n done f*** all.

Adj, yes, Jim Gillespie may have "pushed hard" for DM's appointment, but it was not a standalone decision. That's not the way it works at Rangers now, whereby all the executives have their own inputs and opinions in these crucial matters - and that's the way it should be.

Gazza, it certainly does if you're also good at your job. ? ??
