May I ask some people are saying no 2 Dmc because he said no years ago but would take SG who also said no! What's the difference?

13 Jun 2026 13:39:49
Maybe because Gerrard said yes when McInnes said no and managed to turn around the club and the team. He inherited the conditions that McInnes didn't want anything to do with, and although it took time (I think only Tav, Jack and Morelos became mainstays in his team) he got us the title.

Even then, that's not reason I don't want McInnes, I just don't rate him.

13 Jun 2026 13:50:02
Aberdeen second, Hearts second, he's got a superior squad if he's the Rangers manager, wslgers, McInnes all day for me, this hoof ball is nonsense chat as well, he showed that with him turning the game around against us, got the beaten of Celtic with every clubs he been at, even Kilmarnock.

13 Jun 2026 13:52:42
It's well documented that I'd be happier with Srevie G coming back for exactly the reasons you've highlighted, but I'm ready to back anybody else that comes in. I feel McInnes might just be the right appointment at the right time, given the backing he will get from the owners/board.

Don't know what it is, but I just have a sneaky feeling he will turn us down.

13 Jun 2026 13:54:23
Not a hope in hell Steven Gerrard would get second place with Aberdeen or Hearts.

13 Jun 2026 14:35:59
Ask Bristol City fans. They may inform you about the disaster there with his hoofball tactics. Some in the centre stand still have a sore neck.

13 Jun 2026 14:36:04
I would take neither, and it's not because they said no. DM, what has he won as a manager? He has SPFL experience, that's it. Bottled leagues when we weren't there at the sheep, and bottled it there with Hearts.

13 Jun 2026 14:51:44
Worth noting that Hearts were cheated out of the league title this season. Just saying.

13 Jun 2026 14:14:05
What if derek mcinnes is the right man for the job and we don't hire him because he knocked us back? That would be insanity-Any one of us has the right to accept or reject a job at any time for any number of reasons and probably have done in our past but we have the cheek to criticise mcinnes with no real knowledge of why he did it- we have tried numerous managers over the last decade without any real success or stability, if you look across the city they almost always first of all look to bitter Irish managers with a love of their club and a hatred of ours who immediately have the fans onside and would bleed for their club, their only real failures in recent memory are Nancy and despite winning titles against noone ronny deila- Rodgers, lennon and oneill are all irish and massive Celtic men and were all successes, its time after numerous project managers and punts that we at least try what looks like a safer pair of hands in one of our own in mcinnes, it can't go any worse than the past 4 or 5 seasons and maybe he is the answer, we might also find( or maybe not) that with a bigger budget and a team expected to do the majority of the attacking that he plays in a different way( at other clubs he could only p*ss with the c* ck he had) whilst also making us harder to beat

13 Jun 2026 14:55:21
Derek Lampard or Gerrard are my 3. It's not changed in a while. We should of been looking at Lampard straight after Chelsea.

13 Jun 2026 14:57:41
Burghger, are you being serious? Tell me you're having a laugh. How long ago was Derek Mciness manager of Bristol City? Are you telling us Derek Mciness hasn't become a better manager, with hundreds of games getting him more experienced? Do you think the man you want in Steven Gerrard would finish in second place with both Aberdeen and Hearts?
No chance.

13 Jun 2026 14:58:38
Any manager that comes in has no guarantee that he will win anything. He can have loads of experience, but it makes no difference who it is. Lots can happen and go wrong, and we'll be back on here rinse n repeating.

13 Jun 2026 15:03:09
Clearly no manager is guaranteed success, but better going with a man that knows what this league and Rangers are all about. imho.

13 Jun 2026 15:06:51
I will back any manager our board brings on board, and will back him longer than most, patience is a thing, a big percentage of Rangers fans just don't have, and one of the main reasons we continue going trophies less.

13 Jun 2026 15:41:47
Let's not forget the man who will be front left and centre of helping select a new manager, Billy Gillespie, also knocked back the chance to join Rangers at first opportunity under the previous regime. Do I think anything from the past will cloud his judgement? I think not.

It's a very sterile argument without knowing the full circumstances. Anyone, though, that can turn Tynecastle into a fortress and survive an entire season there undefeated really has won me over. Hearts were a total basket case the season before Derek McInnes arrived.

13 Jun 2026 16:13:21
Let's hope the board have a name in mind, and hopefully thatcl name wants to come to Rangers. Welcome to Rangers Mr Muscatt.

13 Jun 2026 16:19:19
Jim Gillespie never refused the job at Rangers. We walked away at the time due to an investigation into his charity work. He was 100% cleared of any irregularities of any sort.

13 Jun 2026 16:41:07
Foolmonty, explain the cheating? You taking about decisions that went against them at end of season? What about the decisions they got earlier in season? Do they not count? Match at Ibrox, 2 dodgy decisions they got, so they never got cheated out of anything, they bottled it.

13 Jun 2026 16:49:41
Opinions, but some just cannot respect others' opinions and get a wee bit narky. McInnes had many failures before Bristol and made a right mess of that. The wheels fell aff at Gorgie and that had been coming for weeks before. No way is he right for Rangers, and paying compen to them is unnecessary and ridiculous.

13 Jun 2026 16:58:12
Finished second with both Aberdeen and Hearts, nothing narky about that, he'd have a superior squad at Rangers, only stating facts, Burgher, but thinking he's not far more experienced since his Bristol days, I did think you must have been at the wind up.

13 Jun 2026 17:15:22
Exactly Mystar, but some folk say he'll no ken the players. ?

13 Jun 2026 17:44:24
I disagree so let's just leave it, but someone disagrees with you, it's a wind up aye? Ok, no bother, I'm bored now.

13 Jun 2026 19:08:14
Are we forgetting he nearly got Killie relegated the season before last. Remember he was second at Aberdeen when we were out the league and couldn't lay a glove on Celtic, but was always full of praise for them when his team got humped. Hearts did well last season, but ultimately they blew a big lead and didn't win it against two poor Of teams, and for those who like to point out Danny Rohl's record against Mo'n, McInnes didn't win any of his two games against him either.

I just don't think he has the mentality to win, but yeah he's good at finishing second if that's what we want.
