In reply to John re players being linked not good enough to be starters. While I agree Graham, Penrice, watt would not be starters we are going to lose a high number of players this summer and we need a good squad as well as a good starting 11. We aren't even in June yet so I don't see why we won't get both. The likelyhood is these squad players will be easier to get in earlier and the ones who will be needle movers or starters are likely to come in after the World Cup when players start moving teams and the domino effect happens with clubs.

I think we need a Scottish core at the club so I am more than happy with Penrice, Graham, watt coming in to challange the first 11

Can totally understand the concerns. Listened yesterday to Matt Crooks at Hull, who was speaking about overcoming epilepsy. Remembered he was with us for a short while. At 32, still bossing it down there. Like many others who are successful in the Championship but struggle up here.

Don't know what it is, but there is a different mentality needed, so can't just say they are good there, so must be here. Not about which is better but just it is different. Credit to him for overcoming what he has anyway.

Thanks for reply, wishy. I'm very concerned re our direction of travel on the pitch.

Kaiser, is it as simple as saying the game up here is a lot faster than the football experienced by non-Scottish players who have played in other leagues. I watch a lot of football on TV, and players have a lot more time on the ball than in the SPL.

How is it that we sign football players like Lammers, Rothwell, Dowell Danilo etc and current players like Antman, Chikwuami and Aasgaard who play well in better standard leagues than ours, but struggle in the SPL.

Wishy, I think we need to just get the right players for what we are trying to do. Agree with Kaiser and John that it takes a mentality to play for us, and because they have been good for other teams in our league, then it doesn't always follow that they will do it at us; Scott Wright as an example, although he was nowhere as bad as he was made out to be.

I want our back ups to be (eventually?) good enough to come in without a fall off in quality. That might mean initially that they are younger and developing. Is Watt etc ceiling higher than what he shows so far? If so he can be that back up; if not then I would find better.
