Just seen the clip of Danny talking to ub. Thought it was very good. I know a lot don't like it but fans getting their point across directly can only be a good thing for the future. Well respected by couple ub and Danny. We go again v Falkirk and next season.

I do think he understands what the club is all about, I'm just not sure he's the man to lead us. However, with a better squad, who knows.

Which managers out there just now do understand that, though, Gersgirl? I think it's a great point, but I can't think of many "Rangers men" who are managing just now. I do think, though, that Danny is making the effort to become that, and hope, with a new squad, things change.

I don't want a "Rangers man" as the next manager. We need someone who can completely strip the emotion out of the job and work with their head, not their heart. Look at the last 15 years where having a board of directors made up entirely of die-hard Rangers men didn't do us any favours, so it's time for a proper change.

I think managers take the Ibrox job thinking they can handle it, but it might just be a hell of a lot bigger than any of us realise. Danny Rohl was actually doing a decent job with the tools he had at his disposal. What we really needed to do was leave him alone, back him for a few transfer windows, and let him actually build a squad capable of challenging and winning the league every single year.

But instead, we fall into the same old Scottish trap. The average manager up here lasts just 12.7 months, while across Europe it's about 16 months.

When you look at the elite clubs who are actually winning silverware, that number jumps to 3.5 years plus. They aren't just there because they're winning; they're winning because they were actually given the time to build something.

Rinsing and repeating by changing managers every single season does us absolutely no good when it comes to squad building. The data proves it takes upwards of 24 months to build a team that can compete at the absolute top, yet we keep binning our managers in half that time.

Hopefully, we finally stop buying random squads for specific managers, and start building a proper club blueprint. We need a sustainable squad strategy so that when the next manager inevitably comes in, they can just take the wheel and keep moving. If you ask me, that's our only hope.

Good post, Angus. I do agree. I do also think it's important, though, that any manager understands what he's getting into. Too many owners, managers and players have walked in and underestimated the job, and even said they didn't get the size of the club and the demands. Whether it's "Rangers man" or, as Gersgirl put it, understands the club.

Look across the city. Wilfred Nancy was exactly the type of person we keep going for, whereas O'Neil or Rodgers and even Lennon, who won plenty too, were people who understood them. I do think Danny is trying to be that man tho.
