Is modern football and social media harming football players ability 2 form a strong bound with there team mates. A say modern football all the health stats and sports science stuff has stopped the going for a pint going for game of snooker up the dancing. Plenty of players from abroad got the culture of Rangers right away back in the 9 ina row team?

Interesting point Noodles.

I'd say it's impacted society as a whole, especially youth in that way.

No doubt it would have an impact.

Social media is a poison on everything these days, not just players.

I must agree with that, Muscatin.

I thought about your post, Noodles, but as an ex military man, bond is created by adversity, not enjoying yourself, so going on the piss and playing snooker is not how great teams are created. It's through various factors such as common tough backgrounds, hard family life, a group brought to their knees and collectively built back up as if the world's against you.

Drinking and snooker just happen to be the thing in the day, not cause of the result. Friends are created through social interaction, brothers and sisters are created through service.

TJB, I agree 100% and that flourishing from adversity is why I want players and managers to learn from the bad things which happened this year. We just kick them all out normally and start again.

That world against you is what McInnes does so well for his teams, and Alex Ferguson was the master of it at Aberdeen. We need to do the same now as the underdog.

Why do you think the Walter Smith teams and Dick Advacatt teams were so successful? I have had the good fortune to be at a few speakers nights, and the players always talked about going out together after training, after games, having house parties, etc.

I wasn't a fan of McInnes for a long time, really didn't get the hype from some for him to be considered as our next manager, but after what he has done with Hearts, on a small budget, and after his Fergie-esque presser on Wednesday, I think, if Rohl is to go, then he would be the only one who could bring back the glory days at Ibrox.

I agree, Foolmonty. ? Walter Smith rated and thought the world of Derek McInnes and Sir Alex Ferguson rates McInnes also and has done for ages now. ?

Interesting discussion. I'd say both things are important to build a team spirit. The adversity itself doesn't create bonds any more than going for a few pints or whatever together. U need a few leaders who know how to bring u together to give support. Otherwise u just have a group of people who are suffering. I'm sure, even in the army, time is spent together building strong bonds long before u face real adversity because u need to be able to trust your men.

I'm sure even people from good backgrounds can become great soldiers. Most footballers won't face any real adversity, but can create strong bonds in other ways. That is one of the things Moore said was the problem. They weren't there for one another when things got hard.
