If Man United don't offer Michael Carrick the job dose anyone think he could do a good job. Ano he's not one anything but he's shown so far he has a very good understanding of the game?

Derek Mciness would be my number one choice.
Then John Eustace or Alex Niel.

Sorry Noodles, yes Carrick, but think he's getting the United job.

He deserves it, my star tbh mate.

I like McInnes too and wanted him at the start of the season (I'm not even kidding). I thought he would be pragmatic, give us consistency, and offer us some much needed stability. We could have benefited from that even if we didn't win the league.
Right now, I think he is beyond our reach. The guy knocked us back when he was the manager of Aberdeen. I firmly believe he did so because we were seen as a basket case club at the time. He would be hired and fired within 12 months.
Right now, McInnes is in a position whereby he could win the SPFL and get a crack at Champions League Qualifiers.
Hearts have sellable player assets and a good scouting system. If he wins the league he'll have security of job position for years to come - He'll be given legendary status for ending the Old Firm's dominance over the Scottish game. He's not going to walk away for the Rangers job which is becoming a poisoned chalice. He'll end up sacked in less than 12 months knowing us.
If he didn't join us back in the Aberdeen days, why would he join now? There is even less of a reason for him to join now.

Double his salary, Rohl.

He should be asked anyway.
12 May 2026 00:19:13
That's some shout, bro.
He'd be brilliant.

Only if he brought Holland as #2.

RohlWithCheese, Derek McInnes knocked us back in December 2017 because Dave King and the board at the time moved the goalposts on the contract from their first round of talks because McInnes was definitely coming. ? King told McInnes that Rangers only wanted him and not his assistant Docherty, and after then speaking to the late great Walter Smith, who told him the current board wasn't right, McInnes went back, told Stewart Milne from Aberdeen he was staying put, and then informed King that he was turning the job down.

My star, I just couldn't see Derek McInnes leaving Hearts to take the Rangers job now, mate. ? I honestly think he'll be at Hearts for a good number of years before eventually becoming the Scotland manager, that's just my honest opinion, mate. ?

Why would anyone want to come to Rangers, hey, you get one mid season transfer, and if you don't win the league you are out. Any decent manager would stay miles away from us.
12 May 2026 09:21:11
Sorry, but McInnes is a no from me, he had all those years when we were not in the Premier League and won nothing in a 2 horse race.

Scrambled, he finished second with Aberdeen, and a good chance of winning the league with Hearts in his first season, mate, with the funds available at Rangers he'd have us in a stronger position.
I'm not letting Rohl walk anyway, not before a pre season and summer window, but he needs to learn from his mistakes, but some of our players are a big part of the problem though.

Noodles77, Carrick has done an excellent job at Man United as interim manager but he has Steve Holland alongside him.
