Angus I am sorry to bring this up but can you please explain to me your logic behind the debate on ability.
You asked how I can judge a players ability because they have not played in Scotland.
That seems silly to me.
We all judge players abilities every day.
Haaland has not played in Scotland
Bellingham has not played in Scotland
Donnarumma has not played in Scotland.
Are you trying to say that we cannot judge these world class players abilities because they haven't played a game in the SPFL?
You said yourself performance and ability are not the same.
Surely we must stop discussing signings because we cannot judge there abilities.
I am just trying to understand where that logic comes from.

Not so sure its the players abilities more than can those same abilities be suitable in Scotland where players do not get time on the ball. Sorry Angus not trying to speak for you simply giving my take on it.
Sometimes a really good player who shows bags of ability just doesn't cut it in our league.
Every signing is a risk. We are at our maximum in loans in so no more try before you buy for us so important to get it correct.

My star that is my point though ability and performance are completely different.
I agree adaptability, suitability and overall performance levels dictate form ect but ability is not measured in these metrics.
For example Jadon Sancho has not performed well for s fee clubs but ability wise is still levels above what we have.

Aphe I have said I am not saying he doesn't have ability but they need to show it in our team first.
there have been so many players who have ability, come up here and have failed and had to leave after not even a season. if Haaland came to us I would be the same way although some would see that as odd. exhibiting that ability isn't a guarantee. I also said he isn't match fit so we won't see the best of him for a while imo.
as I said in the other thread I was explaining why I didn't choose people and why I had split a couple of choices between 2, that was all.
others can and did choose who they want; it is just a bit of fun and debate.
so I want to see ability in our team never mind our league. If Maswhanise came to us I wouldn't pick him as he hasn't performed for us so don't know if he has the ability to do that even though he is playing well in the league. just the way my brain worked and wasn't a dig at anyone for picking him.

Adhesion ability is of no use if it is not a companion of application and effort.
Ive seen many players with stacks of ability that don't work out here.

I think the problem with Rothwell is that he has limited ability. There was no way he was ever going to be a top player for us.

Reality has proved that he does not have the ability to be a top player at Rangers though, hence why he is getting papped out the club asap. Filed in the same bracket as Cifu, Cortes and the other failed predictions. I was trying to be kind Miller but yip to be quite frank he's pish. Joe Pirlo eh, poor guy never stood a chance.

I actually think if we played Rothwell under Danny Rohl he'd be a good player.
Think he's decided he doesn't really like our fans though aftet the abuse he's witnessed both he and dowel get along with RM.

Stevie Rothwell has ability. But i think he came up here thinking he would stroll it. Most games he's started he's breathing out his hole after 15 mins. He hopefully moves on asap.

He came in as a symbol of the Russell Martin regime…out with fan favourite Raskin and in with Rothwell…it didn't work but RM persevered the same way he kept playing Dowell because RM is an egomaniac and knows best……I personally had Rothwell as a game changing signing…. but not as a no6.
