Angus to answer your question of are some people only fans when we are playing well. Outside of our title win and run to Europa final, when in the last 20 years have we played well? If you go to Ibrox for past 20 years you see the same faces, season after season. Angus I honestly don't believe that if you think we aren't going to win a title at certain times through the course of a season, then when back in a title race your your seen as getting "back on board" that's the highs and lows of a season, every season.
IMHO we are always on board.

BB4 it was trying to explain further the other posters point. 4 weeks ago our players were so dreadful we wanted to get rid of every one of them almost. 4 weeks later and we are in a title race and those same supporters are raving about what Rohl has done with those players.
I still don't believe we are going to win the title as there is a long way to go; hope maybe. my worry is that we fall away a little and those same people (and many more) make their feelings vocal as in the past and the board react and the build process we need falls away again.
I have always been fairly vocal on here about giving players time, backing the players and manager and building for a team in the future. that doesn't make me a better supporter or a 'real' supporter. I can see the bad points but just try to focus on what is improving and support that. that is support IMO and there are many who don't get to games for whatever reason who are supporters as well.
So I could se the reason the poster said it and feel personally we should be more supportive of the team however it is going at any time. we tend to be glass half full or glass half empty.

Fans cause turmoil and take no responsibility
They'll decide a manager isn't right as they're signed and then look for confirmation bias
Watch any podcast is the same people who start complaining first every time then the same people follow in order
They'll say man u and now Celtic cause issues but will never accept we've been unsuccessful due to the fans impatience and inability to back a manager for longer than 2 months if things don't start well
Dw it's Rangers you don't get time here it's a club standard (after 2016 anyway complete nonsense)

Fans cause turmoil? Yeah those same fans were filling Ibrox with 50,000 when down the league's, same loyal fans that made it appealing for American buyers to come in. Sick of this blame the fans nonsense, we've been mismanaged from top to bottom for years, yet some want to blame the fans that demand better and have been there through thick and thin give them some credit.
Angus having opinions is what it's all about on here, some right some wrong. i'm glad you can look for the positives all the time, some can't do that and that's ok, there's not been much to be positive about last 20 years, but I suppose that's the fans fault.

MPM, you have been on here before haven't you under another name as I remember that poster using confirmation bias as an argument.
when a new manager is selected confirmation bias is usually absent or weakened as they will start with a clean slate. I say usually as there are examples like Russell Martin where that isn't the case but in the main it happens more often than not.
this together with the a desperate need for success and change will usually override previous biases. so don't think confirmation bias is an issue with managers anyway.
The issue with fans though and especially those of previously successful clubs isn't confirmation bias though as it is caused by the need for instant gratification where we don't give manager or players the time to settle and in fact don't believe that time is needed. there is an expectation that players will play at their peak immediately (expectation that new managers will get a group of underperforming players to play their best suddenly). If they don't perform instantly then they are considered to be a flop and should be sold as they will never improve.
Social media is the forum where this manifests itself more speedily than word of mouth in a ground as used to be the case.
It is worse when the player is considered to be very good and performs much worse than is expected ( a negative expectancy violation) and I have concerns that this might happen with Skov Olsen.
as this team has shown time is needed and I have said that perhaps Martin and Thelwell being so poor will buy Danny Rophl the time needed to overcome this need. here is hoping.
