This is my first post, and likely my last due to me a) not being in the know and b) very lazy, so I'll revert back to just reading.
But I think it's a real shame the way the fans have already set Martin up for failure. This is a brand new era for the club we all love. We have a board that will steady us financially and, if reports are to be believed, a young manager who, apart from a 6 month stint in arguably the hardest league in the world where he wasn't really backed, has done some very good work in the Championship, where he won promotion from one of the most gruelling leagues in the world.
Everyone was wild for Gerrard when he came, why? He had no real managerial experience but everyone went wild for the name.
Is Martin a champagne, blockbuster appointment? No. But he doesn't have to be. He will get my support and I will give him a chance to show us all what he can do.
Anyway, I wish you all well.

Remind me how much he spent in the summer last year?

Good opening post mate, try and get involved more Killingworth.
Martin is getting it rotten before we've even seen how he has us playing, he'll definitely need a keeper signed because Butland gives me the fear was a ball near his feet and Kelly isn't good enough.

Based'in North east Killingworthger?

Freddie Woodman could be that man, sure he was his Swansea keeper and he's currently out of contact.

Someone needs to remind you he won't be spending anything at Rangers that's someone else's job. Gerard has been sacked from his last two jobs, Ancelloti has never managed a club. Give the guy a chance.

On incomings alone? About £120m on a lot of players, many of whom were relatively cheap when you consider what Premier League clubs spend on one player. Less than Ipswich and a bit more than Leicester. Going into a Premier League where the other sides were all relatively established, I think even the best coach in the world would have struggled to keep that Southampton side up.

I think if this is the case they would have been better backing BF and giving him time and money to develop a team. He was 3 months ahead of anyone coming in, familiar with the squad etc and I would say he merited that at least. He's maybe not came through the lower English leagues, but was doing a job with what he had at his disposal. Unless you are going to bring in a proven high calibre Manager with a winning mentality and European experience which RM is neither, I don't see the point of replacing Barry with him.

He never spent a penny Muscat Southampton spent money tho.

Would like to see us sign someone from the Eastern European market a lot of big strong ball playing keepers in that market that also have safe hands. My star I think woodman is on parr with butland.

Muscatin you could also look at the championship season where they sold 140m worth of players and spent only 40m.
Looking at their prem league season 140m spent and 40mish sold. Purchases 18m on archer (Aston villa reserve), 23m on harwood-bellis (man city reserve), 22m on Flynn Downes (west ham reserve) previous two being making loans permanent, oldest purchase was 25 years old Ben Brerton Diaz who had flopped at Villarreal for just under 9m. Free transfers of 30 year old Fraser and Lumley and 36 year old lallana.
looking at a fee without context is like looking at stats without context. Can be manipulated to suit a narrative. The club could have spent better.

Woodman is good with the ball at his feet though Sam.

He was 10th 15th won promotion threw playoffs sacked that's his record at been a manager and we should be happy.
