Not a rumour, I'm just wanting to post my thoughts about the whole Kent situation. We got him last year for buttons, he had a decent season which has put his stock through the roof. Whilst I think he is a great player, we should not be carried away and be splashing £8 million+ for him. Personally, I think we should be following the model of bringing in players like Kamara / Aribo on the cheap, developing them and selling them on for a profit.

If I was asked, would you prefer a link with the European champions, that will send players up on loan every year looking to play and us to develop, Liverpool ultimately selling them for a profit, we get a player for next to nothing, or sign Kent for silly money and blow our budget on one player - I would choose the link with Liverpool. If we can keep finding gems in the market and have 1 or 2 players on loan every year from Liverpool for next to nothing in amongst our improving/ stronger team, we are laughing. That's something money can't buy.

The link with Stevie G is there and Liverpool are going to keep supporting him. The boy Ojo already looks decent, if we can kick on, I don't think there's any reason we can't kick on and come extremely close this year 💙💙.

Good post Gmartin 1986!You talk lot of sense in your post pal. I agree we couldn't/ shouldn't pay £8million upwards for the permanent signing of ryan kent. I rate kent very highly and would love us to sign him permanently, or at the very least another season long loan deal, which going by what Klopp is saying, won't happen. For us to sign kent permanently, it has to be a sensible
structured deal, to suit our finances. Along the lines of £4million maximum now, with possibly the rest of the transfer fee structured so we're paying it over say a couple of years, with liverpool getting the carrot of having a possible 50% sell on clause inserted into the deal. I truly think that is do'able for us. I would love us to get kent back to ibrox in some sort of deal. Imho kent is even better in his position, to what we currently have.

I agree in principle. However it would make more sense to not loan at all and concentrate on developing our own kids. That’s the ideal situation. Develop our own, sell for massive profit and also scout wisely purchasing ‘bargains’ to later sell them on also.

In amongst that formula you will have been making profits, allowing you to purchase a much higher calibre of player to play alongside the bargains and In-experienced players. The team becomes much stronger for titles and Europe.

If we can get Kent for 6m, then for me we do it. He is a far higher calibre of player than what we have in that position. Jones just doesn’t cut it for me. He will be OK, but he’s not Kent.

@Paul86 - when you consider that we paid over £1 million for Grezda for a year and what did he contribute? Half rate and nothing. Buttons for a player of Kent’s quality.
